Six pavilions stand in a ring, and the middle is left open. That is the Rathausplatz in Landau, where the Federweisser festival runs from Thursday to Sunday. The Federweisser festival on Landau's Rathausplatz

The Fest des Federweißen is one of the oldest Federweisser festivals in the Palatinate. It runs from Thursday 15 October to Sunday 18 October. On Saturday, 17.10.2026, the square is open from noon until 1 a.m.

The star is Federweisser, the young wine that is still fermenting and can only be tasted a few days after the harvest. The six wine pavilions pour wines from Landau growers only, from the town centre as well as the outlying villages. That makes the festival a showcase for the town's winegrowers.

More than 30 snack and specialty stalls line up around the pavilions. Onion tart, flammkuchen, dampfnudeln and saumagen stand for Palatinate cooking, roasted chestnuts and mulled wine for the season. International stalls are there too.

Entry is free.

On Sunday 18 October the festival opens at 11:30 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. From 1 to 6 p.m. the shops in Landau's town centre are open as well, as it is a trading Sunday. Strolling the shops and the festival on the Rathausplatz are then only a few steps apart.

From the Eifel to the Wine Route

In Bockenheim on the Wine Route, the 84th Bockenheimer Winzerfest runs from Friday to Monday, with a parade and a dialect poetry contest where Palatinate poets read their work. The winemakers pour at their own stands, and entry is free. The Niersteiner Imbs opens the winemakers' cellars and courtyards on the Roter Hang on the third weekend of October. Guests walk from yard to yard at their own pace and taste the new vintage and Federweisser, and some yards have live music.

The Herbstmesse in Speyer is in its 779th edition, with a Ferris wheel, carousels and dodgems on the Festplatz until 25 October. Entry to the grounds is free, rides and booths are paid for one by one. In Mayen, the Lukasmarkt fills the town centre until Sunday in its 621st edition, with a livestock and crafts market in the Bäckerstraße. Around 250,000 visitors come each year, and the Genovevaburg stands over the festival grounds.

For the 25th time, the Kammgarn in Kaiserslautern stages the Kammgarn International Blues Festival, in the Kasino and the Cotton Club. On Saturday, 17.10.26, Cardinal Black, Ana Popović and Philip Sayce take the stages. Tickets are sold through kammgarn.de.

In the Kurpark of Bad Neuenahr, the Klangwelle shows water fountains more than 30 metres high, plus fire, lasers and music. Doors open at 6 p.m. on Saturday and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, and the show starts two hours later. Over 19,000 visitors saw the eight performances in 2025, and tickets go through die-klangwelle.de.

The Hauenstein chestnut market on Sunday is regarded as the oldest chestnut market in the Palatinate, with chestnut sausage, chestnut bread and roasted chestnuts; shops are open from 1 to 6 p.m. In Göllheim, the autumn market fills the Kulturkarree on Saturday and Sunday with craftspeople, showmen, live music and comedy, and entry is free. Alzey's town centre belongs on Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. to the Martinimarkt and its French food market, Bleu-Blanc-Rouge: cheese, wine, charcuterie and pastry from France.
