Fusion's Younger Sister Festival
A former military airfield, four days, a single open-air stage. Near Lärz, in the Mecklenburg Lake District, the at.tension Festival turns the former restricted zone, from September 3 to 6, 2026, into a space for circus, street theatre, puppet theatre, contemporary dance, performance and experimental sound art.
Hangars, the old runway and several circus tents form a combination of venues rarely found elsewhere.
The festival counts as Fusion's younger, theatre-heavy sister event.
Every two years the interdisciplinary format returns to Lärz, deep in the Mecklenburg Lake District, far from the Baltic coast that shapes most of the state's summer dates. In the hangar, circus artistry meets sound installation; on the old runway, the audience wanders between stages; in the circus tents, performances run late into the evening. Those who want to move between disciplines don't have far to go: the circus tent, the hangar hall and the runway all sit on the same grounds.
Sunday, September 6, closes out the four days on the airfield grounds.
From the Parade in Pasewalk to the Farm in Jamel
The Vorpommern county town of Pasewalk marks its 775th anniversary from September 4 to 6, with a roughly four-kilometre parade on Saturday that moves through ten centuries, from the Middle Ages to the present, plus themed markets and concerts. On the edge of the Stettin Lagoon, the Randow Festtage in Eggesin, the small town's highlight for over fifty years, bring a children's lantern parade, afternoon fairy-tale shows and the big club parade, plus fairground rides, through the fairground on Heidestraße on September 4 and 5.
In the Baltic resort of Rerik, the Festival of Lights on the Haff, the town's maritime end-of-season event, lights up the Salzhaff with countless floating candles at dusk on September 4 and 5, as sailboats parade past, a bonfire burns on the promenade and the Rerik Heulbojen strike up their shanties, while the folk-rock band Bad Penny plays on. On the island of Usedom, the International Usedom Marathon, one of Germany's most scenic races, runs on September 5 from Świnoujście through the resorts of Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin to Wolgast, along Europe's longest beach promenade, with participants from all over the world.
In Rostock, Dierkow and Toitenwinkel mark the Mühlenfest from September 4 to 6 on the Mühlenwiese, the biggest neighbourhood festival in the city's north-east, with about 30 clubs, a family programme, a Mühlenfest party and fireworks. On Rügen, InselChaos opens for the second time on the La Grange grounds in Bergen, hosting the northern German chaos community with talks, workshops and concerts on technology and society, organised by Port39 e.V. from Stralsund. In Stralsund, the German Championship of Home Brewers, held in the historic Störtebeker brewery quarter, pits ambitious home brewers from across Germany against each other, judged by an expert jury, while a public event lets beer lovers experience the contest first-hand. Ten kilometres from Wismar, Jamel rockt den Förster has rocked, since 2007, on the private farm of Birgit and Horst Lohmeyer against the far-right presence in the village.
At the Usedom Marathon on September 5, runners can also choose the half marathon or the relay marathon alongside the full distance.
