The European Brass Music Festival Aue-Bad Schlema ranks among the largest gatherings of Europe's brass music scene. For three days, from September 18 to 20, 2026, the spa town in the Ore Mountains becomes a central meeting point. Musicians from at least nine nations travel there.
Around 500 top musicians travel there every autumn.
A heated festival tent offers 3,200 seats. It carries a non-stop programme on two stages across all three days, with no long pauses between acts. Anyone who stays in the tent the whole time hears brass music in an unbroken sequence.
Around 10,000 visitors travel to the spa town in the state of Saxony every year.
Music, vintage cars and an ideas lab
In Klingenthal, the "music town" of the Vogtland district, the international harmonica festival reaches its final days. It is described as the world's most important gathering of the harmonica scene. Since the year 2000, it has invited, once a year, players, makers and fans from around the world to competitions, workshops, concerts and the well-known musical and culinary live night, across more than ten venues, including at the instrument maker C.A. Seydel Söhne, with more than 1,000 guests. Guests come from the United States too. In Naunhof, where FOLKUS counts among Saxony's most idiosyncratic festival series, the repurposed industrial building at the Alte Kranwerk turns on September 19 and 20 into a stage for folk and world music concerts followed by a dance ball, with the autumn edition of FOLKUS.
The vintage car enthusiasts of Oldtimerfreunde Sohland e.V. gather at the Schützenplatz An der Sternwarte in the Oberlausitz. They celebrate the 22nd edition of their traditional vintage vehicle meeting. Historic cars, motorcycles, tractors and trucks arrive from Saxony, the Czech Republic, Poland and across Germany. In Leipzig, the Festival Gutes Leben ends too. Since September 12, it has turned the city's streets, squares and neighbourhoods into an ideas lab for the future, community and joie de vivre, with walks, workshops, talks and creative actions. Its central question is what a good life actually means.
