Chrome Shine in Upper Lusatia
Sohland an der Spree, a double village on the upper Spree in the Saxon district of Bautzen, has been a firm fixture in the calendar of the East Saxon oldtimer scene for over two decades. From September 18th to 20th, 2026, the Sohland Oldtimer Friends Association (Oldtimerfreunde Sohland e. V.) invites you to the 22nd edition of their oldtimer meeting at the Schützenplatz An der Sternwarte. Several hundred historic vehicles are expected — from pre-war DKWs and Trabant classics to IFA trucks and Western cars from the 1960s and 1970s.
Three Days of Program
On Friday, the meeting begins at 12 PM with the arrival of the first participants. At 7 PM, the official opening takes place, followed by dancing in the marquee with a live band and DJ — Friday evening is traditionally considered the most social highlight of the weekend. On Saturday, the grounds open for visitors at 9 AM, with vehicle exhibitions, a spare parts market, and tours of the surrounding area. On Sunday, the program starts at 10 AM with a Frühschoppen (morning pint), further exhibitions, and a grand closing parade.
Vibrant Club Work
The Sohland Oldtimer Friends Association (Oldtimerfreunde Sohland e. V.), founded by an initiative of dedicated mechanics and collectors from the region, organizes the meeting with volunteer commitment. The association maintains contacts with many clubs in Saxony and neighboring regions — clubs from the Czech Republic and Poland regularly attend the meeting.
Arrival and Accommodation
Sohland is located on the B 98 between Bautzen and Sebnitz, easily accessible from Dresden (approx. 60 kilometers) and Görlitz. Accommodation is available in Sohland itself (Pension Sächsischer Hof, Berggasthof Wachsmann) as well as in the neighboring towns of Cunewalde, Wilthen, and Schirgiswalde. Camping is possible on-site at the festival grounds by prior arrangement with the association.
