First State Garden Show in the Eichsfeld
The Thuringian State Garden Show 2026 is the fifth edition of this major Thuringian event and the first to take place in the Eichsfeld district. Leinefelde-Worbis, a twin city formed by a merger in 2004 in the extreme northwest of Thuringia, presents itself to the region and all of Germany as a modern Eichsfeld center with a rich cultural history.
'Reconciliation between City and Landscape'
The motto reflects the special structure of Leinefelde-Worbis: on one side, the historic old town of Worbis with Renaissance buildings; on the other, the industrially shaped western part of Leinefelde. The State Garden Show connects both poles with gardens, experience spaces, and cultural projects to create a new urban landscape.
172 Days, 1,500 Events
From April 23 to October 11, 2026, the LGS offers a continuous program: concerts on the open-air stage, family activities, exhibitions, workshops, readings, guided tours. The first highlight is the opening evening on April 25 with singer Christin Stark.
Wüstung Kirrode – Digital Middle Ages
A special LEADER-funded project is being developed around the archaeological remains of the deserted medieval village of Kirrode: a multimedia experience world makes the medieval village digitally accessible – a connection of garden and history that only the Eichsfeld can offer.
