Klaus Tschira and MINT Enthusiasm
Explore Science is a format by the Klaus Tschira Foundation, one of Germany's largest science foundations (founded in 1995 by Heidelberg-based SAP co-founder Klaus Tschira). Explore Science has been running in Mannheim since 2006, with Bremen and Bodensee joining later — and for the first time, Magdeburg in 2025. The premiere in autumn 2025 attracted around 6,500 visitors to Elbauenpark.
Theme 2026: 'Inventions & Discoveries'
Each Explore Science edition is dedicated to an annual theme. In 2026, it's 'Inventions & Discoveries' — from Newton to quantum technology, from the light bulb to AI. Stations, workshops, stage shows, and competitions will revolve around the great moments in human invention history and the discoveries science is making today. The festival is aimed at kindergarten children, school classes, and families. A large part of the program is interactive: hands-on participation rather than just listening.
Elbauenpark Magdeburg
Elbauenpark is Magdeburg's large Federal Garden Show park from 1999, located east of the Elbe river. 100 hectares of parkland with the Millennium Tower, Butterfly House, summer toboggan run, and park stage — an ideal setting for an outdoor festival with a scientific focus. The city of Magdeburg (state of Saxony-Anhalt, AGS 15003) has partnered with the Klaus Tschira Foundation, and the program is free of charge.
