About Mühlenfest Rostock
Mühlenfest Rostock — edition 2026
From September 4th to 6th, 2026, Dierkow and Toitenwinkel will celebrate the 22nd Mühlenfest. The Mühlenwiese will be transformed into a festival ground with a large stage, a festival tent, association stalls, a food mile, and children's carousels. Friday from 3:00 PM, the program focuses on the "young at heart" with bingo, Low German, and live music. Saturday opens the "Day of Associations" from 11:00 AM — around 30 sports clubs, fire departments, churches, and social organizations will present themselves, followed by the Mühlenfest party in the evening with a DJ and live acts, crowned by fireworks around 10:30 PM. Sunday begins with an open-air church service at 10:30 AM, followed by the family and sports program from 1:00 PM.

Profile
Since 2005, the Mühlenfest has been the joint district festival of Dierkow and Toitenwinkel — the two large housing estates in Rostock's northeast. The organizer is the Rostocker Gesellschaft für Stadterneuerung (RGS), which organizes the festival with the neighborhood management and around 30 associations, institutions, and local councils.
Program
Three days of programming with a clear daily structure: Friday for the "young at heart" with bingo, Low German and rock music, Saturday the "Day of Associations" with stage performances, fashion shows, dance shows, and the Mühlenfest party in the evening, Sunday a family and sports program with an open-air church service and hands-on activities. The highlight for years has been the fireworks display on Saturday evening around 10:30 PM.
Local Context
The Mühlenwiese is located on Hinrichsdorfer Straße between Dierkow and Toitenwinkel — the historic site of a post mill, now a festival ground. The Mühlenfest is the most important civic festival in the northeastern part of the city, after the Stadthafen Pentecost Market and the Hanse Sail, and a meeting point for volunteer associations such as sports clubs, fire departments, youth work, or church communities.
