On August 7-8, Havelbeats turns Potsdam's Schiffbauergasse quarter into a playground for electronic dance music. Five stages, more than 50 acts, and headliners like Westbam, Dr. Motte and Gestört aber Geil make it one of Brandenburg's biggest open-air electronic events. Three boat parties on the Havel river extend the dancefloor onto the water, with industrial techno at the Schirrhof for good measure.
Horse racing in Hoppegarten: the 136th Grand Prix of Berlin
On Sunday, August 9, the Hoppegarten racecourse hosts Berlin's most important flat race of the season. The 136th Westminster Grand Prix of Berlin is a Group I race over 2,400 metres, worth €155,000, under the patronage of Berlin's governing mayor.
