Körba — Brandenburg Village with a Long History
Körba is a district of the municipality Lebusa in the Amt Schlieben, located in the southern Elbe-Elster district, between Falkenberg and the Saxon border. The municipality of Lebusa and its districts are among the oldest permanently settled areas in Brandenburg — villages were founded here as early as the Middle Ages, inhabited by Slavic, then by German settlers. With its 650th anniversary in 2026, Körba commemorates its first documented mention in the 14th century.
Three Days of Village and Beach Festival
The festival concept combines two Brandenburg festival traditions: the classic village festival with a stage, stalls, food, and dancing; and the beach festival on the village's own body of water (typical for the Lower Brandenburg villages where a lake or pond is part of the community identity). Celebrations will take place over three days (Friday to Sunday): Opening event on Friday evening, main program on Saturday with stage and beach games, family program on Sunday with a morning pint and closing.
In the 2026 Calendar of the Schlieben Land
The Amt Schlieben comprises several municipalities in this rural region and maintains an annual event calendar. The 650th Körba anniversary is listed as a central event in the official 2026 calendar. It is part of a series of small Brandenburg village anniversary festivals that take place annually in this region — where villages are often seven or eight hundred years old.
An Authentic Village Festival
Anyone wishing to experience Brandenburg village culture in its authentic form will find a rare opportunity at the 650th Körba anniversary. These festivals are not staged for tourists but arise from the initiative of the village community, the clubs (fire department, sports club, heritage society), and the municipal administration. The program is prepared over weeks, supported by volunteers, and presented on the festival weekend. It is Brandenburg identity in the most concrete sense.
