Pfingstrock — Indie from Lower Lusatia

What began as a small local festival in 2011 has developed into one of the most important indie and alternative rock festivals in Eastern Germany. Pfingstrock in the Herzberg (Elster) Botanical Garden — a historic Art Nouveau complex from the early 20th century — is a two-day open-air event with approx. 1,000 visitors per day, specifically booking emerging and established indie bands from German-speaking countries.

Art Nouveau Garden as a Venue

The Herzberg Botanical Garden, designed in the early 1900s as an Art Nouveau garden, is a curious and intimate venue: small paths, pavilions, sculptures, old trees. The main stage is centrally located, and the audience spreads out on the adjacent meadow and in the garden areas. Maximum capacity approx. 1,000 people — deliberately kept small to preserve the atmosphere.

The program for the 15th edition is of high quality. Saturday (May 23): Blackout Problems (Indie Rock, Munich), Agatha is Dead! (Alternative), Moonkid (Indie Folk Rock), EASY EASY, Lonely Spring. Sunday (May 24): RAZZ (Indie Rock, Norderstedt), Michèl von Wussov (Singer-Songwriter), Spyres (cancelled in the meantime), DEVILLE (Indie Rock), and other acts. Note: Artist ROWLI has passed away, some acts have been replaced.

Tickets and Travel

Day ticket €29.90, Weekend pass €47 — comparatively inexpensive for a festival of this quality. Advance sales via Infield Live. The small size and rural location usually require travel by car or bus from Herzberg (Elster) train station. Camping is available.
