Open-air festival for electronic music on the Havel
The Havelbeats Festival has been held annually since 2017 in the Kunst- und Kulturquartier Schiffbauergasse – a former military site directly on the Havel in northern Potsdam. In 2026, on August 7 and 8, the festival will attract around 4,000 dance enthusiasts from Berlin, Brandenburg, and all over Germany. The organizer is the traditional Waschhaus Potsdam, which has shaped the electronic club culture of the state capital since the 1990s.
Diversity is Havelbeats' hallmark. The Mainstage is dominated by EDM, House, and Techno with a large light show and pyrotechnics. The Schirrhof is the industrial techno stage – raw, harder, no frills. In the Trance & Goa Garden right by the water, it's all about psychedelic sounds. The Arena Stage in the hall focuses on lasers and bass sound systems. And three Havelbeats Goes Boat parties move the festival onto ships that shuttle between Schiffbauergasse and Tiefer See.
Confirmed acts include Westbam (pioneer of German techno), Dr. Motte (co-founder of the Loveparade), Gestört aber Geil (chart-topping tech-house from Stuttgart), Kxxma, and over 50 other acts from the German and international scene. A 'Secret Headliner' slot remains secret until shortly before the festival.
The Kunst- und Kulturquartier Schiffbauergasse is Potsdam's creative center: Waschhaus, T-Werk, Hans-Otto-Theater, and galleries share the grounds. During the Havelbeats weekend, the entire infrastructure becomes the festival area – including a food truck mile, chillout zones by the water, and art installations.
In the state of Brandenburg and the district of Potsdam (independent city), Havelbeats is the largest festival of its kind. It appeals to club-goers who want to combine Berlin's urban nightlife with a more relaxed, nature-oriented festival experience. Unlike Brandenburg's rural free open-airs, Havelbeats takes place right in the city – with public transport connections, permanent sanitary facilities, and no camping.
Havelbeats 2026 is the latest edition of the largest electronic open-air festival in Brandenburg's state capital. More than 50 acts will perform on five stages – a cross-section of Techno, House, EDM, Trance, and Goa. The organizers rely on a mix of German pioneers (Westbam, Dr. Motte), current chart stars (Gestört aber Geil), and underground acts.
The Schiffbauergasse location is a unique selling point: the area is directly on the Havel, and three boat parties (Havelbeats Goes Boat) move the festival onto the water. A food truck mile, art installations, and chillout zones complete the offering.
