Schlemmerköste Neumünster
Street Food Festival on the Großflecken in the heart of Neumünster
2026
About Schlemmerköste
Schlemmerköste — edition 2026
Double Date 2026
The 2026 Schlemmerköste will be held in two stages: In spring, it runs as a three-day event over the weekend of March 27th to 29th, and in autumn as a one-day event on the Sunday with open shops, September 27th. City Management Neumünster combines both dates with the fabric market (Stoffköste on the Kleinflecken) and a Sunday with open shops, turning the city centre into an all-day culinary and shopping area.
The Concept
Around 17 stalls are set up on the Großflecken — a curated selection of international cuisines from India, Morocco, Mexico, the Middle East, and Asia. In addition, there are classic street food options (crêpes, burgers, fries), as well as regional providers from the North. The fabric market on the Kleinflecken on Sunday, with over 100 vendors, complements the programme.

Street Food, Fabric Market and Sunday with Open Shops
The Schlemmerköste is the culinary event of City Management Neumünster — and it never comes alone: each date it is combined with the Stoffköste (one of the largest fabric markets in Northern Germany on the Kleinflecken) and a Sunday with open shops. This creates an all-day experience area for locals and guests from the culinary event in the city centre.
What there is to taste
Around 17 stalls present a colourful mix of international cuisines on the Großflecken:
- Indian: spicy Chicken Biryani, curry specialities
- Moroccan: Tajine, couscous, piping hot mint tea with sweet pastries
- Mexican: burritos, tacos, quesadillas
- Other stalls from Asian, European and Middle Eastern regions, with changing focuses between the spring and autumn editions
- Sweet classics: crêpes, churros, regional specialities to take away
Großflecken — Neumünster's Festival Mile
The Großflecken is Neumünster's central market square and at the same time the most important inner-city festival area. The Holstenköste (May/June), the Schleswig-Holstein Proms open-airs and numerous markets also take place here. With its central location between the main train station and the Holstengalerie, it is a five-minute walk from the train station — and thus easily accessible from outside.
The independent city of Neumünster
Neumünster, as an independent city, is located in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, conveniently situated on the A7 motorway between Hamburg and Flensburg. With around 80,000 inhabitants, it is a central hub for a wide surrounding area between the districts of Segeberg, Rendsburg-Eckernförde and Plön. City Management Neumünster bundles the activities in the city centre — from Schlemmerköste and Stoffköste to Holstenköste.
