Mölln's autumn market between Bauhof and Kurpark

The Mölln autumn market has been on record since 1561 and is one of the oldest fairs in northern Germany. Some 130 stalls, rides and carousels take over the old town, from the Bauhof along Bergstraße to the Kurpark.

It began as a pure trading place. Merchants from Lübeck, Lauenburg, Lüneburg and Wismar sold their goods here, and by the 16th century jugglers, acrobats and entertainers were part of the scene.

Today a Ferris wheel, dodgems, a wave swinger and children's carousels turn, with shooting and lottery stalls alongside. Visitors eat Mutzen, roast potatoes, potato pancakes and roasted almonds, and drink mulled wine. Over the four days, thousands of people come from the Duchy of Lauenburg and the Hamburg area.

On Saturday, 31 October 2026, and on Sunday, 1 November, the market is open from 2 pm to 11 pm. The shops in the town centre open from 1 pm to 6 pm on both days, and Saturday is Reformation Day in Schleswig-Holstein.

The gravestone of Till Eulenspiegel stands at St. Nicolai church. The autumn market ranks with the Christmas market and the Eulenspiegel festival among the town's most important events of the year.

Torches, lights and shop windows between the Baltic and the North Sea

Samhain at the Ostsee Resort Damp lasts three days and combines medieval camp life and market stalls with music. A Viking challenge and a programme for families belong to it, smiths work at the forge and the stalls offer jewellery and drinking horns. On Saturday, 31 October, the torch march starts at 6 pm, Wolf Barsch plays coastal rock at 7:30 pm and the fire show by Weltentor follows at 9:30 pm.

In Flensburg, the Long Night of the Flensburg Museums opens the Museumsberg, the natural history museum, the shipping museum and, for the first time, the former power station at the industrial harbour, where regional artists show light and sound art. The combined ticket costs 12 euros for adults and 10 euros reduced, admission is free from 11 pm, and a free shuttle bus links the venues.

In Pinneberg, the Happy Halloween Weekend decorates the shop windows of the town centre for the sixth time, with craft and face-painting stations for children, and shops are open on Sunday. Elmshorn bets on the Food Truck Fest and Shopping Sunday on Sunday: the town centre is open from noon to 5 pm, and trucks with burgers, Asian street food and waffles stand on Holstenplatz, and singer-songwriters play on the square. At the riding grounds of the Hohenlockstedt riding tournaments, the November tournament starts on Sunday, 1 November, and spectators pay no admission.

The Büsum Light Weekends light up the lighthouse, the fishing cutters, the Büsum lettering and the town hall park daily from 6 pm to 10 pm, free with a valid guest card. Live formats such as the fire show Harlekin on Fire and lantern walks by the youth fire brigade are part of the programme. On Föhr, the Danish light artists of Kystlys turn a different island village into a work of light every evening until 31 October between 7 pm and 9:30 pm at the Föhr Light Week, free of charge.

The Travemünde sand sculptures show 104 sculptures made from more than 10,000 m³ of special sand in the boat halls at Baggersand until Sunday, 1 November. The motto is Time Travel in Sand, and 25 artists from 16 nations shaped the figures. The Nolde exhibition in Seebüll ends on Saturday with the museum's 70th annual exhibition. Oil paintings, watercolours and prints are on show, including 37 works that the public sees for the first time. Both open daily from 10 am to 6 pm.
