Since 1561 — one of Northern Germany's oldest annual markets in the Eulenspiegel town
With its origins in the mid-16th century, the Mölln Autumn Market is one of the oldest annual markets in Northern Germany. Originally, it was purely a trading market where merchants from Lübeck, Lauenburg, Lüneburg, and Wismar offered their goods. Both then and now, entertainment and conviviality played a central role: as early as the 16th century, jugglers, acrobats, actors, and performers were part of the market activities, and the town took special security measures — the town gates were closed earlier, and armed citizens ensured order during the day.
Today, the market extends from Bauhof across Bergstraße to the Kurpark parking lot and the parking lot of Kreissparkasse Herzogtum Lauenburg and Rossmann. The Autumn Market thus uses a large part of the inner-city traffic areas — making the Mölln city center a festival mile for four days. In the background: the Eulenspiegel Museum, St. Nicolai Church, and the historic market square.
The program follows classic Northern German annual market logic: Ferris wheel, dodgems, carousel rides, children's carousels, shooting galleries, prize stalls — combined with the culinary delights that belong to the market: Mutzen, roasted potatoes, grilled specialties, potato pancakes, candied almonds, mulled wine. Over the four days, thousands of people from the Duchy of Lauenburg and the surrounding areas of Hamburg visit the market.
A special feature of the Mölln Autumn Market is the two Sundays with open shops in the city center — on Saturday (Reformation Day) and on Sunday (All Saints' Day weekend). The shops are open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on both days, allowing you to combine strolling, shopping, and visiting the annual market.
Mölln, the "Eulenspiegel Town," is located in the Duchy of Lauenburg district, about 30 kilometers southeast of Lübeck. The medieval town is primarily known as the burial place of Till Eulenspiegel, whose gravestone can be seen at St. Nicolai Church. The Autumn Market is one of the most important city festivals of the year — alongside the Mölln Christmas Market and the Eulenspiegel Festival.
The 2026 edition falls on the extended Reformation Day weekend, making it one of the busiest dates in Mölln's event calendar. Families from the entire Duchy of Lauenburg, the Lübeck region, and Hamburg's commuter belt come to the Eulenspiegel town for four days of annual market.
By car via the A24 (exit Talkau) or A20 (exit Lübeck) and then on the B207. By train to Mölln (Lauenburg) station, from there a 10-minute walk to the old town. Designated parking spaces outside the old town during the market.
Friday to Sunday 2:00 PM–11:00 PM, Monday 2:00 PM–10:00 PM.
On both weekend days, the shops in Mölln's city center are open from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
