Three weeks of diversity, inclusion, and democratic cohesion in Middle Franconia
Fürth feiert Vielfalt is an extraordinary city festival that brings together events, artists, educational offerings, and social initiatives under one roof every spring in the Middle Franconian city of Fürth (Bavaria) for three weeks. The venues span the entire Fürth city area – from the Kofferfabrik to the Jewish Museum of Franconia, the Haus der Kulturellen Bildung, and numerous small venues.
The program comprises almost 100 individual events, managed by more than 70 associations, initiatives, cultural institutions, and educational providers. This makes Fürth feiert Vielfalt one of Bavaria's largest civil society festivals – a collaborative project where the city's education office provides the platform, but the thematic focus is set by the city's community itself.
The program is divided into several lines: Culture & Entertainment with concerts, theater, and exhibitions; Active Participation through workshops and hands-on formats; Dialogue & Community in the form of lectures, readings, and joint celebrations. A recurring highlight is the Kofferdisko, an inclusive dance format at the Kofferfabrik. Further focal points include religious diversity, Jewish life in Fürth, migration, inclusion, and anti-racism.
Inclusion is not an add-on but a fundamental principle of the festival. Program information is available in Easy Language, many events are translated into sign language, and accompanying services for blind visitors are offered. The program is accessible in 11 languages via the Integreat app, specifically engaging Fürth's highly diverse population.
The festival is organized by the Working Group for Inclusion Fürth, the Office for Migration and Diversity, and the Education Office of the City of Fürth. The patronage is held by Lord Mayor Thomas Jung. Fürth feiert Vielfalt is supported by numerous city advisory boards (Education, Integration, Culture, Youth, Seniors). Fürth, as an independent city, is part of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region in Middle Franconia (Bavaria) – one of Bavaria's most diverse cities with a migrant population exceeding 50 percent in some districts.
The 2026 edition of Fürth feiert Vielfalt extends from April 24 to May 10, 2026, over three weeks throughout the city of Fürth. The organizers are the Working Group for Inclusion, the Office for Migration and Diversity, and the Education Office of the City of Fürth.
With around 100 events and more than 70 participating associations and institutions, the 2026 edition is one of the most densely packed in the festival's history. The program includes concerts and theater performances, workshops on inclusion and intercultural understanding, exhibitions on Jewish life in Fürth, lectures (e.g., on religion in video games), and the recurring Kofferdisko at the Kofferfabrik.
Inclusion is a fundamental principle: program information is available in Easy Language, many events are interpreted in sign language, accompanying services for blind guests are offered, and the Integreat app provides the program in eleven languages. The patron is Lord Mayor Thomas Jung, supported by the city's Education, Integration, Culture, Youth, and Seniors advisory boards.
There is no festival-wide pass. Most events (lectures, exhibitions, workshops, discussion rounds) are free or request a small donation. Individual formats like the Kofferdisko cost 5 Euros admission, 2.50 Euros with the Fürth-Pass. Concerts and theater performances may have their own admission prices depending on the organizer.
By train to Fürth Hauptbahnhof, from there all venues are accessible on foot, by subway (U1), or bus. By car via the A73 (exit Fürth-Süd) or the A3 (exit Erlangen-West), parking garages in the city center.
