A Tournament Series Instead of a Single Event

Unlike most equestrian events, Hohenlockstedt is not a single major tournament, but a year-round tournament series. The Reiterverein Hohenlockstedt e.V. hosts seven tournament weekends between March and November — sometimes as a dressage tournament, sometimes as a combined dressage and show jumping tournament, and sometimes as an indoor tournament during the winter months.

What is Competed

At the riding facility, competitions are offered in the classic disciplines of the German Equestrian Federation (FN):

• Dressage Competitions — Classes E (Beginner), A (Novice), L (Light), M (Medium)
• Show Jumping Competitions at comparable levels, depending on the tournament
• Indoor Tournaments during the winter months
• Style Jumping and combined competitions as per the announcement

Reiterverein Hohenlockstedt

The club is one of the active riding clubs in Schleswig-Holstein and has a fully equipped riding facility with an indoor arena, dressage and jumping arenas, horse boxes, and a clubhouse. Members regularly compete at higher levels, but the tournaments also attract beginners — classes E and A provide an accessible entry into the tournament scene.

Hohenlockstedt in the Steinburg District

Hohenlockstedt is a municipality with around 6,500 inhabitants in the Steinburg district in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. The town originated in the 19th century as Lockstedter Lager, a former military facility — which is why the riding club is also called 'Reitverein Lockstedter Lager' on Instagram. Today, the municipality is characterized by its rural structure, with active clubs, agriculture, and vibrant equestrian sports.
