Open Cellar Day at seven wineries in Hohenhaslach with regional asparagus and Württemberg wine
The 'Tag der Hohenhaslacher Weingüter' is one of the most beautiful wine events in the Württemberg wine region — a weekend where seven winemakers from the 1,400-inhabitant wine village of Hohenhaslach (part of Sachsenheim) open their cellar doors simultaneously, creating a shared weekend of enjoyment. In 2026, the event takes place on May 16 and 17. Saturday 11 AM–11 PM, Sunday 11 AM–8 PM. Free admission — pay per glass, per tasting, per dish.
Seven estates are participating, which you can visit completely in one weekend — all within walking or shuttle distance. An overview:
May in the Württemberg wine region is peak asparagus season. Panoramaweingut Reinhard Baumgärtner accordingly offers fresh asparagus with sauces from Landgasthof Stromberg — self-service on the wine terrace or in the panorama hall. Other estates offer roast lamb, Maultaschen, snack platters with regional cheese and farmer's ham. It pairs perfectly with the region's Riesling, Lemberger, and Trollinger.
Panoramaweingut Reinhard Baumgärtner bundles several highlights: Asparagus cuisine from Landgasthof Stromberg (self-service wine terrace + panorama hall), tasting zones with a wine terrace and wine lounge with panoramic views, cellar tours at 1 PM, 3 PM, and 5 PM. The Stromberg District Pipes and Drums (bagpipe group) perform a traditional concert, a wine educational garden showcases the most important grape varieties, a viewing platform offers a 360-degree view, and hiking trails start directly from the estate.
On Sunday, May 17, the Kirbachtal-Cruisers (a vintage car club from the Kirbachtal valley) will present an exhibition of historic vehicles at one of the winery estates. Classics from the 50s to the 80s, paired with wine and asparagus — a picture-perfect Sunday program for wine and vintage car enthusiasts.
Hohenhaslach is a district of the town of Sachsenheim in the Ludwigsburg district. The village is located in the Kirbachtal, a side valley of the Stromberg — the vineyards around the Stromberg are among the warmest and sunniest in Württemberg. The Hohenhaslach wineries have been connected for generations, making the joint organization of the 'Tag' possible. The village has established itself as a gourmet destination and is reachable by car in 30 minutes from Stuttgart.
By car via the A 81, exit Mundelsheim, then B 39 to Sachsenheim and continue to Hohenhaslach. Public transport is limited — car recommended, as the seven wineries are spread throughout the village. Parking available at each estate.
Free. Tastings approx. €2–€4 per wine. Dishes à la carte. Cellar tours mostly free or for a small surcharge.
Saturday, May 16, from 11 AM to 11 PM. Sunday, May 17, from 11 AM to 8 PM. Recommendation: Combine several estates in one weekend.
