Three-day city festival in the Stove City — with fireworks 'Velten in Flames'
Velten is a small town in the Oberhavel district in the state of Brandenburg, located north of Berlin. What distinguishes this town of around 13,000 inhabitants from any other Brandenburg municipality is its industrial history: Since the mid-19th century, Velten was the capital of the German tiled stove industry — up to 40 stove factories operated simultaneously in the small town, exporting worldwide and making the name 'Ofenstadt Velten' a trademark. Today, the Stove and Ceramics Museum commemorates this history — and since 2025, the new Ofen-Stadt-Fest, which invites you to its second edition from May 29 to 31, 2026.
The Rathausvorplatz (town hall square) between Poststraße and Rathaus transforms from Friday evening to Sunday evening into a festival mile with a stage, beer tent, food and market stalls, and amusement rides. The stage features a rotation of DJs, live bands from the Schlager, Rock, and Pop genres, as well as performances by local clubs, dance groups, and choirs. Families are the focus throughout all three days: bouncy castles, children's carousels, face painting, and craft activities are primarily offered on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
The sporting highlight on Saturday evening, May 30, 2026, is the grand fireworks display 'Velten in Flames' — an aerial fireworks show accompanied by music, rising above the rooftops of the Stove City. The exact start time is after dark, traditionally between 10:30 PM and 11:00 PM. The show is organized by Jens Schmidt GmbH, which organizes the entire festival on behalf of the City of Velten.
The festival grounds feature classics like the 'Hyper X' pendulum arm ride and the 'Fly Over' carousel, along with traditional fairground attractions like a shooting gallery, raffle stalls, and sweet stands. The stage, with its Schlager and Pop program, attracts a broad audience from Velten, Oranienburg, Hennigsdorf, and the northern Berlin commuter belt, especially in the evenings.
Velten is conveniently located on the S 25 (Berlin S-Bahn) — making the city festival easily accessible for many Berliners. For the region, the Ofen-Stadt-Fest, alongside the Advent market at the Stove and Ceramics Museum, is the biggest joint festival event of the year.
Following the successful premiere in 2025, Jens Schmidt GmbH continues the concept: fairground attractions and stage at the town hall square, children's and family program during the day, live acts and DJ sets in the evening, and the aerial fireworks on Saturday. The exact band lineup and the time of the fireworks will be published in April on the communication channels of the City of Velten.
Detailed hourly program and band lineup available at velten.de and on the communication channels of Jens Schmidt GmbH.
