Traditional marksmen's festival of the Adenstedt Marksmen's Association in the district of the Ilsede municipality
Adenstedt is a district of the Ilsede municipality in the Peine district. As in many villages in Lower Saxony, the marksmen's association is a central pillar of club life. The Schützenverein Adenstedt e.V. annually organizes the major Schützenfest, which forms the social highlight of the village year and connects generations.
The festive opening is the parade through the village, accompanied by music clubs and friendly marksmen's associations from neighboring villages. The subsequent bird shooting is the sporting highlight, where the new monarchs are determined. The crowning in the festival tent is the emotional moment of the weekend.
The Schützenball on Saturday evening is the most important dance event of the weekend. A live band or DJ ensures a long festive night, during which the village community, club members, and guests dance exuberantly. Dance evenings on Friday and Sunday evenings complement the program and attract a younger audience from the entire district.
Sunday morning is traditionally dedicated to the Frühschoppen with brass music. In the afternoon, the focus is on the children's afternoon, which features games, small competitions, and activities for the youngest festival visitors. This intergenerational program structure is characteristic of a village Schützenfest.
For Adenstedt, the Schützenfest is more than just a club event. It is an occasion for family reunions, gatherings of friends, and for welcoming former residents who return to their hometown for the festival. This social function ensures the vitality of the village community and passes the tradition on to the next generation.
From Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, the Schützenverein Adenstedt offers a packed program. The parade, bird shooting, crowning, marksmen's ball, and morning pint follow the proven schedule of North German Schützenfeste.
The new royal court will be determined during the bird shooting on Saturday and ceremoniously proclaimed afterward. The royal couple will represent the association for the next twelve months at numerous festivals and receptions in the region.
The detailed program will be published by the Schützenverein Adenstedt in spring 2026. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
Festival weekend in June 2026 (date according to the Ilsede municipality's event calendar: June 12–14, 2026). Historically, the festival also took place in July. Final confirmation by the association in spring 2026.
