Two-day village festival on the village green of the pottery village in the Oberhavel district
The Dorffest Marwitz will take place in 2026 on the weekend of September 5th and 6th – starting on Saturday at 10:30 AM, concluding on Sunday at 2 PM. The festival grounds are the Dorfanger am Meierpfuhl – the central square with a pond (Pfuhl) in the Marwitz district. The event is organized by the Marwitz local council in cooperation with the municipality of Oberkrämer and local clubs.
The two-day festival typically includes:
Marwitz holds a special significance in German ceramics history: it is home to the HB Workshops for Ceramics, founded in 1934 by Hedwig Bollhagen (1907–2001). The workshops continue to produce the iconic BTS series (Bollhagen Pottery Disc Style) to this day, which is represented in the collection of the Berlin Museum of Decorative Arts and many other museums. Marwitz is thus one of Brandenburg's most important pottery centers.
The municipality of Oberkrämer (Oberhavel district) was formed in 2003 from the merger of four formerly independent villages: Bötzow, Eichstädt, Marwitz, and Schwante. With a total population of around 7,500, it lies in the commuter belt northwest of Berlin. Marwitz stretches from the Tegeler Fließ valley to the A10 motorway.
The best way to get there is via the A10 (Berliner Ring), exit Oberkrämer, then take the L17 towards Schwante/Marwitz. Parking is available around the village green; traffic management will be in place during the festival. By public transport: Bus 824 from Velten (S-Bahn S1 from Berlin).
