Grand Anniversary Festival for the 25th Birthday of the Merged Municipality of Oberkrämer
The municipality of Oberkrämer in the Oberhavel district of Brandenburg is the result of the Brandenburg municipal area reform of 2001 — at that time, the eight independent municipalities of Bötzow, Eichstädt, Marwitz, Neu-Vehlefanz, Schwante, Vehlefanz, Bärenklau, and Bärensprung merged to form the greater municipality of Oberkrämer, which now has around 11,200 inhabitants. 2026 will celebrate its 25th birthday — on Saturday, May 30, 2026, the municipality invites you to a grand Summer Garden Festival in the summer garden of the municipal administration.
The day is divided into two phases. At 12:00 PM, the official ceremony begins with a welcome by the mayor, festive speeches, presentation of honors, and musical accompaniment. Registration is required by May 4, 2026 for participation in the ceremony (via the municipal administration). From 2:00 PM, the open family program opens — all citizens of Oberkrämer and the region are welcome here without prior registration.
The afternoon program combines festivity with family entertainment: children's activities with a bouncy castle, craft activities, and face painting; interactive stands from the eight districts, presenting their respective identities and initiatives (from the Bärenklau church choir to the Vehlefanz local history society); live music with local bands and solo artists; and catering with bratwurst, cake, and drinks provided by the associations. In the evening, the program will be expanded with live bands and DJ sets.
The Summer Garden Festival is consciously designed to involve all eight districts — not a centralized administrative celebration, but a shared birthday for the citizens. The districts of Bötzow, Eichstädt, Marwitz, Neu-Vehlefanz, Schwante, Vehlefanz, Bärenklau, and Bärensprung are preparing their own contributions — associations, local history groups, sports clubs, and kindergartens will showcase what makes their respective villages unique. The shared identity as a greater municipality, developed over 25 years, will also be made visible.
Oberkrämer is located in the western suburban belt of Berlin, about 30 km northwest of the capital. With the A 24 motorway and the S-Bahn connection via Velten or Hennigsdorf, the municipality is well connected to Berlin — many commuter families have moved in over the last 25 years. The 2026 anniversary festival also marks the assessment of this change: from rural Brandenburg to a greater municipality with an urban suburban belt profile.
The Oberkrämer municipal administration is organizing this unique anniversary festival with the active involvement of all eight districts. The ceremony and family program form two phases — formal in the morning, open to all in the afternoon.
Detailed program and registration forms available at oberkraemer.de.
