Twelve days of freshly tapped Rossknecht beer on the Rathausplatz in the heart of the Baroque city
The Ludwigsburg Brewery Days have been a firm spring tradition in the city for years. From May 27 to June 7, 2026, the Rossknecht brewery will transform the Rathausplatz — one of the most beautiful squares in southern Germany, framed by the Baroque town hall and the Protestant city church — into a huge open-air beer garden. For twelve days, this will be the meeting place for everyone who enjoys craft beer, summer atmosphere, and live music.
The focus is on the in-house Rossknecht beer: full-bodied Helles, spicy specialties, and seasonal varieties are served directly from the tap — it doesn't get any fresher. For those who don't drink beer, there are regional wines, non-alcoholic cocktails, soft drinks, and spirits from Stuttgart manufacturers (cooperation with 0711 Original). The menu is deliberately kept concise, but the quality is excellent.
The food menu mixes Volksfest (traditional folk festival) classics and Swabian specialties. From the charcoal grill come Bratwurst (sausages), Schwenker (grilled meat), and burgers, and from the wood-fired oven comes the legendary Dinnede — the Swabian answer to the Alsatian Flammkuchen, thinly rolled and crispy, topped with bacon, onions, and sour cream. Vegetarian and vegan options are naturally part of the menu.
Twelve festival days, twelve different live acts: cover and tribute bands play oldies, pop, rock, and 80s classics. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, the stage usually starts around 7:30 PM, Fridays and Saturdays around 8 PM. The festival finale on Sunday, June 7, traditionally features a special format like a Rockabilly Day — program changes will be announced on the Brewery Days' social media channels.
Ludwigsburg is located in the Ludwigsburg district of Baden-Württemberg, about 15 kilometers north of Stuttgart. The city is best known for its Residential Palace and the Blühendes Barock (Blooming Baroque) gardens, but brewing has a long tradition here too. The Rossknecht brewery follows in the tradition of Stuttgart and northern Baden-Württemberg beer culture, which shapes the region's largest Volksfeste like the Cannstatter Wasen and the Stuttgart Spring Festival. The Brewery Days are the city's counterpart — smaller, more urban, more intimate.
Admission to the Brewery Days is free. The Rathausplatz is located in the middle of the pedestrian zone and can be reached from the state capital by S-Bahn (S4 and S5 from Stuttgart Hbf, Ludwigsburg stop) in 12 minutes — it's about a 15-minute walk from the station to the city center.
The 2026 edition runs from Wednesday, May 27, to Sunday, June 7, 2026 — twelve festival days in a row in the middle of Ludwigsburg's city center. As usual, the organizer is the Rossknecht brewery, which is the centerpiece with its own draft beer. The offer is complemented by Stuttgart spirits from the 0711 Original cooperation, regional wines, soft drinks, and cocktails.
The cuisine remains classic Swabian and suitable for folk festivals: wood-fired Dinnede, grilled Bratwurst, burgers, and vegetarian alternatives — concise, but quality-focused. Free admission, seating outdoors and under the pavilions.
Twelve days of varied live acts on the stage at Rathausplatz — from oldies to pop, rock, and 80s vibes. Weekdays usually from 7:30 PM, weekends from 8:00 PM. Cover and tribute bands from the region and beyond.
