117 years of traditional Kerb in Wiesbaden-Biebrich
The Gibber Kerb is one of the oldest and largest Kerben in Wiesbaden's suburbs. Since 1909, the Gibber Kerbegesellschaft has organized the festival in Gib, a southwestern district of Wiesbaden belonging to the Biebrich borough. 2026 will see the 117th edition celebrated – a remarkable age for a district festival and proof of how deeply the Kerb tradition is rooted in the Rheingau-Taunus district.
From July 17th to 20th, 2026, the Bleichwiesen will transform into a large festival ground with live music, amusement rides, culinary specialties, and a varied stage program. An open-air stage with a large covered beer garden is located on the festival grounds. An eighteen-meter Polygon umbrella from Magic Sky protects thousands of visitors from sun and rain – a technical detail that has made the Gibber Kerb a weather-proof summer fixture over the years.
The Wiesbaden Kerben are traditional suburban festivals spread throughout the year: a "Frühschoppen" (morning pint) on Friday with beer barrel tapping, Saturday celebration with live music, Sunday the grand Kerbeumzug (Kerb parade) with decorated floats, tractors, and clubs, interspersed with the typical repertoire of dancing, customs, and exuberant atmosphere. The Gibber Kerb upholds this schedule and is considered one of the most vibrant editions in the city area.
The Gibber Kerbegesellschaft 1909 e.V. is not only the organizer of the Kerb but is also involved in community life in the district throughout the year. It organizes the Gibber Children's Carnival Parade in February, a large meadow flea market in June, and participates in the Biebrich Palace Christmas Market. The Kerb is the highlight of the association's year.
Biebrich, with around 40,000 inhabitants, is Wiesbaden's most populous borough and is located directly on the Rhine. The Gib district belongs to this borough and has retained its village character with the Kerb society. Visitors to the Gibber Kerb get an impression of how non-touristy, everyday Wiesbaden celebrates outside the spa town's backdrop.
