Hoffest at Weingut Wasem Kloster Engelthal as part of the Ingelheim Wine Cellar Festivals 2026 in a historic monastery setting
Ingelheim am Rhein has carried the epithet 'Red Wine City' for generations. Numerous historical buildings within the city recall the region's eventful history, including Kloster Engelthal – a former Cistercian nunnery whose Romanesque and Gothic architectural elements date back to the 13th century. Today, the estate houses Weingut Wasem, which uses the historic walls as a stage for its wine production, its wine shop, and its estate festivals.
From June 3rd to 6th, 2026, Weingut Wasem at Kloster Engelthal will open its gates for the Hoffest as part of the Ingelheim Wine Cellar Festivals. Four days of wine enjoyment in one of Rheinhessen's most extraordinary settings: the monastery courtyard, cloister, inner courtyards, and old vaulted cellars form the backdrop for a wine festival that seamlessly combines history, architecture, and wine culture.
The focus is on the current vintage wines: Spätburgunder, Frühburgunder, Cuvées, Riesling, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, Müller-Thurgau, Rosé, and Sekt from Rheinhessen vines. The wines are served in tasting glasses, a wine token system facilitates payment, and the winegrowing family is available to guests for questions and recommendations.
The culinary offerings include typical Rheinhessen dishes: Spundekäs (a creamy cheese dip), Handkäs mit Musik (marinated sour milk cheese with onions), Bratwurst (grilled sausage), steaks, Flammkuchen (a type of flatbread), cheese platters, homemade salads, and seasonal specialties. Seating will be arranged in the monastery courtyard, and fairy lights and candles will create an almost meditative atmosphere in the evening.
The Hoffest at Weingut Wasem Kloster Engelthal is part of a series of Ingelheim Wine Cellar Festivals that take place over several weekends from May to August. Kloster Engelthal is one of the most atmospheric festival locations and a highlight for anyone wishing to combine wine enjoyment with history and special architecture.
The 2026 edition follows the proven concept of the Ingelheim estate festivals – with the added special value of the historic monastery setting. The monastery courtyard, cloister, inner courtyards, and old vaulted cellars form the backdrop for a wine festival that seamlessly combines history, architecture, and wine culture.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by Weingut Wasem in good time. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
