Craft beer festival with street food and live music
Ludwigsburg, with a population of around 95,000, is one of the largest cities in the Ludwigsburg district and one of Germany's most iconic Baroque cities. Known for Ludwigsburg Residential Palace, Blühendes Barock, and its market square, the city has increasingly focused on urban event formats in recent years. Beer.Kultur is one of these modern festivals: a craft beer festival that intentionally takes place in the city center rather than in a festival tent, incorporating street food and live music.
The focus is on craft beer — artisanally brewed beers from small and medium-sized breweries beyond industrial standards. Around 30 breweries from Germany (Black Forest, Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Hamburg) and abroad (especially Belgium, USA, Czech Republic) will be represented. On offer: IPAs, Pale Ales, Stouts, Saisons, Lambics — everything the traditional German brewing industry doesn't produce. If you're a beer lover looking to discover new varieties, this is the place to be.
The gastronomic program follows the craft beer ethos: no classic festival tent buffet, but food trucks with burger variations, tacos, pulled pork, vegetarian bowls, and international street food selections. The live music is spread across smaller stages throughout the city center — acoustic sets, indie bands, singer-songwriters, occasionally a DJ in the evening. The format is intentionally relaxed: beer and food to go, spending time in the city center, no stage marathon.
Beer.Kultur is aimed at an audience familiar with classic Swabian Volksfest (public festival) culture (Cannstatter Wasen is 20 kilometers away) — and looking for something different. Young adults from Ludwigsburg and the Stuttgart region, beer lovers from the greater Stuttgart area, and insiders from the craft beer scene in Southern Germany make up the audience.
Ludwigsburg Beer.Kultur 2026 opens its city center to craft beer lovers from Thursday, September 17th, 2026, to Saturday, September 19th, 2026. The organizer is MeinLB, the city marketing agency of Ludwigsburg.
Around 30 breweries from Germany and abroad will be serving their craft beer creations on the market square and in the surrounding alleys — IPAs, Pale Ales, Stouts, Saisons, Lambics, Sour Beers, and experimental varieties. Food trucks will offer international street food classics, and small stages spread throughout the city center will provide live music in a relaxed format.
The final program will be published in advance by the city marketing on meinlb.de. Expected key points based on established craft beer festivals:
Free admission to the entire festival area. Craft beer tasting glasses, food from food trucks, and drinks at festival prices. Tasting glasses are often designed as festival souvenirs.
By train: Ludwigsburg is on the S-Bahn lines S4 and S5 Stuttgart, with a journey time of around 10 minutes from Stuttgart Hbf. It's about a 600-meter walk from the station to the city center. By car: A 81 (Ludwigsburg-Nord exit), parking garages at the palace and in the city center.
Thursday, September 17th, 2026, from late afternoon; Friday, September 18th, all day from noon; Saturday, September 19th, from noon until late evening.
Free admission. Craft beer tasting glasses, food, and drinks at festival prices.
