"The colourful festival all about the pumpkin" in the historic Barn Quarter — third weekend in October
Kremmen is a small town in the district of Oberhavel, located northwest of Berlin on the edge of the Rhinluche. The town is famous for its historic Barn Quarter — a concentration of town field barns built in the 18th century outside the actual town, where farmers stored their harvest. The Barn Quarter was a precautionary measure against fires within the town at the time: straw, hay, and flammable harvests had to be stored outside the town. Today, the Barn Quarter is a unique architectural ensemble in Germany and is used culturally — as a market, restaurant, and event location.
Spargelhof Kremmen is one of Brandenburg's best-known farm addresses — in spring for its asparagus, in autumn for its pumpkins. Thousands of pumpkins of many varieties are grown on the farm (from Hokkaido and Butternut to large ornamental and decorative pumpkins). With the annual autumn Pumpkin Festival, the farm, together with the City of Kremmen, celebrates the start of the pumpkin harvest and the Halloween season.
The two days of the Pumpkin Festival (Saturday and Sunday, October 17-18, 2026) offer a diverse program: pumpkin carving for children and families (Halloween pumpkins, creative carving art), sale of numerous pumpkin varieties directly from the producer, market stalls with regional specialties (apple wines, honey, baked goods, handicrafts), and gastronomy with pumpkin dishes (pumpkin soup, pumpkin cake, roasted pumpkin seeds). The family program includes typical autumn and Halloween themes.
Traditionally, the Pumpkin Festival takes place on the third weekend in October — when the pumpkin harvest has just been completed and the weather in the Brandenburg autumn is usually still mild. The combination of the historic barn setting, regional producer (Spargelhof Kremmen), and autumnal family event makes the festival one of the most beautiful autumn events in Brandenburg.
