Fleiner Weinfest — Traditional Festival of the Wine-Growing Community
The Fleiner Weinfest is one of the fixed summer dates in the Heilbronn wine country. Every year at the beginning of July, the community of Flein invites you to a three-day wine festival in the alleys around the town hall. The event is organized by the community of Flein together with local clubs — music associations, sports clubs, church communities, and the volunteer fire department, each operating their own wine and food stands. The format has proven itself for decades: free admission, regional wines from the Weinschatzkeller of the Heilbronn cooperative winery and from local vintners, Swabian cuisine at club prices, and live music until late in the evening.
Kellergasse, Lindengasse — The Festival Topography
The festival area extends over the central alleys around the Flein town hall — especially the Kellergasse and the Lindengasse. Both streets are closed during the festival and are lined with marquees, standing tables, fairy lights, and club pavilions. The atmosphere is intimate and direct — no large festival stage, but a series of small stations to wander through. The community of Flein has consciously opted against the mass tourism format of large wine festivals and has established the Fleiner Weinfest as a family-friendly community and enjoyment festival.
Wines from Weinschatzkeller and Swabian Cuisine
The wines come from the Weinschatzkeller of the Heilbronn cooperative winery — one of the largest cooperative wineries in Southern Germany — and from local family wineries in Flein. The menu features the classic Heilbronn grape varieties: Trollinger (typical Württemberg red wine), Lemberger, Schwarzriesling, Spätburgunder, Riesling, Kerner, Müller-Thurgau, Weissburgunder. Accompanied by Swabian specialties: Maultaschen, Kässpätzle, Schinken vom Brett (cured ham), sausages, Bratwurst, sweet specialties like Apfelküchle (apple fritters).
Flein — Wine Village on the Heuchelberg
Flein (Heilbronn district, state of Baden-Württemberg, postcode 74223) is a community of around 6,900 inhabitants, located directly south of the city of Heilbronn on the edge of the Heuchelberg. Viticulture has shaped the village for centuries — Flein has its own cooperative winery and is one of the most traditional wine-growing villages in the Württemberg wine region of Heilbronn-Franken. The wine festival is one of the main social events in Flein's event calendar.
