About Neptunfest Jersleber See
Neptunfest Jersleber See — edition 2026
As in previous years, the program focuses on maritime tradition: In the early afternoon, the Neptune baptism begins – a costumed Neptune baptizes children and first-time bathers with saltwater, trident, and a baptismal name. Afterwards, a cake bazaar with homemade specialties, a children's program with games, and a treasure hunt in the sand by the lake shore. Experience shows that the exact times will be similar to previous years: Neptune baptism from 2 PM, cake bazaar from 3 PM, children's festival 3:30 PM–5 PM. Detailed time slots will be published shortly before the date on the club's website.

Tip
Bring your swimwear – the Jersleber See is an official bathing lake with a beach area. If you wish, you can combine the Neptunfest with a day of swimming.
A Lake, a Club, a Festival
The Jersleber See is a former open-cast mine pit that was transformed into a clear bathing lake through renaturation – one of many lakes that have emerged in the former lignite landscape east of Magdeburg. Today, it is a local recreation area for the entire region between Magdeburg, Wolmirstedt, and Haldensleben – with a beach, campsite, and a dedicated club scene. At its heart: the Camper Jersleber See e.V., organizer of the annual Neptunfest.
Neptune Baptism and Maritime Atmosphere
The concept is classic and precisely for that reason popular: At its center is the Neptune baptism, an old custom where first-time bathers (often children, but sometimes adults too) are symbolically welcomed into Neptune's realm. The King of the Seas, here portrayed by a costumed club member with a long beard and trident, bestows a baptismal name and a sip of saltwater. Afterwards, there's a cake bazaar, children's program, treasure hunt, and water games.
A Tradition with Family Ties
The Neptunfest is a classic club festival in the best tradition of Saxony-Anhalt: Families from the surrounding area come to the lake with their children, meet neighbors and acquaintances, spend an afternoon with coffee and cake, and swim with abandon. Admission is free – the club members finance the festival through donations and stall proceeds. The format has been preserved for decades and is a good example of the vibrant summer festival culture in the Magdeburger Börde.
