On the third weekend in June, the castle estate in Wolmirstedt transforms into a large festival ground: The Wolmirstedt Stadtfest is one of the fixed summer dates in the Börde district. It traditionally opens with the Ohrelauf on Friday afternoon, followed by a weekend full of concerts, stage performances, club stalls, and children's activities around the historic complex on the edge of the city center.

The Wolmirstedt Town Festival 2026 will take place on June 19 and 20 on the Schlossdomäne. Opening on Friday at 4:45 PM with the 8th Ohrelauf, which simultaneously marks the start of the festival. Saturday features an extensive stage program and club stalls. The organizer is the City of Wolmirstedt with its festival working group.

The 2026 program is currently being prepared by the city working group led by Mike Steffens. As in previous years, the Ohrelauf will open the Stadtfest on Friday afternoon; the detailed stage program and bands will be published in spring 2026. The Schlossdomäne, as a historic ensemble, provides the perfect setting for a two-day community festival.

Getting There

Wolmirstedt is located about 15 kilometers north of Magdeburg in the Börde district. By car: A14 (exit Wolmirstedt) or B189. By train: Wolmirstedt station (regional connections from Magdeburg and Stendal), from there it's a short walk to the Schlossdomäne (approx. 10 minutes). Parking available in the city center.

The Castle Estate as a Festival Backdrop

Wolmirstedt – the small district town north of Magdeburg in the Börde district – boasts one of Saxony-Anhalt's most beautiful event venues with its Schlossdomäne: a historic courtyard complex with a castle building, stables, and a large courtyard, which was extensively renovated in the 2000s and has since been the venue for numerous city events. The Wolmirstedt Stadtfest – the city's annual community festival – has been held here for years and shapes the weekend around June 20th.

Opening with the Ohrelauf

The festival program traditionally begins on Friday afternoon with the Ohrelauf – a fun run that leads through the town and along the Ohre river, the namesake of the Wolmirstedter Aue. Starting at 4:45 PM, the Ohrelauf simultaneously marks the official opening of the Stadtfest. Afterwards, the festival grounds on the Schlossdomäne open, and the stage program and festival tent begin their operations.

Concerts, Club Stalls, Children's World

On Saturday, the full program unfolds: concerts with local and regional bands on a main stage, culinary stalls with bratwurst, fries, ice cream, coffee, and cake, presentations from Wolmirstedt's clubs (volunteer fire department, sports clubs, local history society, carnival club), children's program with carousels, bouncy castles, and craft stations, as well as historical tours of the castle estate. Sunday concludes the festival with a morning pint or a church service.
