About Halloween Horror Festival
Halloween Horror Festival — edition 2026
Movie Park opens its gates for the Halloween Horror Festival 2026 on September 26 and continues it on selected weekends until November 8. As every year, regular theme park operations with all attractions run during the day without horror elements. From 6 PM, the area transforms into "Horrorwood Studios" — with scare zones, mazes, DJ sets, and live acts.
In 2026, two new horror mazes are planned (details are traditionally revealed by the organizer only shortly before the season starts). Last year's classics — Blood Moon Trailer Park and Ahoj-Brause Horror Lab — remain in the program. Tickets start at approx. €39.90 as a day pass, plus season pass extensions and hotel packages.

Halloween Horror Festival — The Original at Movie Park
Looking for more than just a run-of-the-mill Halloween fun, but a real Hollywood-level horror experience? Movie Park Germany in Bottrop-Kirchhellen has been hosting the Halloween Horror Festival since 1999 — and has expanded it over the years to become Europe's largest Halloween event. For six weekends, the park's themed areas transform into nocturnal scare zones, populated by a cast of 280 monsters covering the full spectrum of film horror, urban mythology, and classic ghost stories.
The Horror Mazes — Heart of the Festival
The mazes are the festival's trademark and are enhanced with new concepts each year. For 2026, two new mazes have been announced — Movie Park traditionally keeps the details under wraps until shortly before the season starts. In 2025, Blood Moon Trailer Park (slasher horror in a trailer park) and the Ahoj-Brause Horror Lab (fizzy drink advertising meets secret laboratory) opened — themes that will continue in 2026. In addition, established classics like The Asylum, Vampires Crypt, and Trail of Hell are part of the program.
Four Scare Zones
Four permanent scare zones are spread across the entire park grounds — designated areas where the monster actors can roam freely and surprise, pursue, or frighten visitors. The scare zones are located in the Hollywood Movie Square (classic zombie-themed), on the Streets of New York (urban horror), in the Western area (backwoods themes), and at Adventure Land (voodoo, swamp, darkness). Those who prefer a quieter experience can still enjoy the park during the day as a regular theme park.
Day and Evening Program
During the Halloween season, Movie Park opens its gates at 10 AM for regular theme park operations — with all attractions, no horror elements. From 6 PM (5 PM on Sundays), the Horrorwood Studios begin, the mazes open, and the scare zones go into full operation. The festival rages until 10 PM (9 PM on Sundays), after which the park closes. Those who pay for admission once have access for the entire day and evening.
Live Shows "Unhallowed 2" and Special Acts
In addition to the mazes and scare zones, there are live shows with elaborate choreography, pyrotechnics, and stunt elements. The ongoing series "Unhallowed 2 — The Freak Show Straight Out of Hell" combines acrobatics, fire, and horror theater on a grand stage. There are also DJ sets in the Western Saloon area and special themed bars with Halloween cocktails.
Bottrop and the Ruhr Area in Autumn
Bottrop is an independent city in the administrative district of Münster, on the northern edge of the Ruhr area, North Rhine-Westphalia. The district of Kirchhellen, where Movie Park Germany is located, is easily accessible via the A31 motorway (Kirchhellen-Nord exit). The festival attracts visitors from the entire Ruhr area, the Netherlands, and Belgium — its own hotel infrastructure with Halloween packages facilitates travel from further afield.
