Hollywood theme park celebrates its thirtieth anniversary in Bottrop-Kirchhellen
In 1996, a theme park opened in Bottrop-Kirchhellen with a clear vision from the start: to combine film and theme park, with Hollywood sets, a studio atmosphere, and themed areas that make you feel like you're walking through a screenplay. Thirty years later, Movie Park Germany is one of Germany's most visited theme parks and the only one with a genuine Paramount license partner. The 2026 anniversary season, themed "Hollywood in Germany — 30 Years of Film Magic," looks back at its history while also looking forward.
The centerpiece of the anniversary season is July 4th, 2026: a long birthday celebration day with extended opening hours, live music, themed bar promotions, and the grand premiere of "Movie Park's Parade of Celebration" — a 20-minute choreographed show with elaborate Hollywood floats, designed by the Belgian design studio Kabuki. A nostalgic program, birthday cake, historical costumes from three decades of Movie Park, and a special birthday edition of the season passes complete the day.
In May 2026, the new Paramount-exclusive attraction "Journey to the Forbidden Chamber" opens in the Streets of New York area — an immersive walk-through experience through a Hollywood studio, evoking the world of Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, with original props and sets. In addition, there will be seven PAW Patrol characters — making Movie Park the largest PAW Patrol cast worldwide — as well as a new Nickelodeon Street Show with four themed floats featuring SpongeBob and the PAW Patrol.
The anniversary season is more than just one day: throughout the summer, there will be the ELITE Cheerleading Championship, Camera Day, Spotlight US Car Show in August, illusionist shows by Christian Farla, and Summer Nights evenings until 8 PM. In the fall, the traditional Halloween Horror Festival is scheduled, celebrating its 28th edition in 2026. The season concludes in December with "Movie Park's Hollywood Christmas."
Movie Park Germany is located in the Kirchhellen district on the northern edge of Bottrop, on the border between the Ruhr area and the Westmünsterland region. Bottrop is an independent city with around 117,000 inhabitants in the administrative district of Münster, North Rhine-Westphalia. The park is easily accessible via the A31 motorway (Kirchhellen exit), and a bus line takes train travelers directly from Bottrop station to the entrance.
The Bottrop theme park anniversary on July 4th, 2026, promises a full day of Hollywood spectacle — from early park opening until late evening. Extended opening hours, themed music in all park areas, specials in the Saloon and Liberty Avenue, plus the official premiere of the new 20-minute parade "Movie Park's Parade of Celebration" with Hollywood-themed floats from the Belgian design studio Kabuki. A dedicated anniversary track, live stage acts, and photo stations with historical mascots from three decades.
July 4th is not the only season highlight: themed events take place throughout the season — from Camera Day for photo fans in early summer to the Spotlight US Car Show on August 15th to the ELITE Cheerleading Championship in the fall. Tickets are available as day tickets, Anniversary Season Passes, or hotel packages. The park opens, as every season, from April to early November.
By car via the A31 (Kirchhellen-Nord exit), free parking at the entrance. By train to Bottrop Hauptbahnhof, then take bus 296 to the park.
