Club life on the edge of the hop-growing region

Hilgertshausen-Tandern lies between Dachau and Schrobenhausen, at the transition from Munich's commuter belt to the hop-rich Donaumoos. The twin municipality has just under 4,000 inhabitants, whose main club is TSV Hilgertshausen — a classic Bavarian sports club with football, Bavarian curling (Stockschießen), and gymnastics sections.

The Sportwoche — a summer fixture

The Sportwoche is officially listed in the event calendar of the municipality of Hilgertshausen-Tandern among the fixed annual festivals. It traditionally takes place at the end of July or the beginning of August and spans several days. The focus is on football tournaments (youth, women, men, veterans), often with clubs from the Dachau district, the Aichach region, and the Donaumoos.

The program structure

• During the day: Football tournaments, field activities, children's sports program, Bavarian curling (Stockschießen), and catering in the festival tent.
• In the evenings: Festival evenings with bands, disco night for the younger generation, and festival beer served at the sports club house.
• On Sundays: Morning pint (Frühschoppen) with a brass band, match of the first team or cup final, and a relaxed conclusion.

Sports weeks like that of TSV Hilgertshausen are a Bavarian peculiarity: instead of a single festival night, clubs extend their summer activities over four to seven days, with a different program each day. In the Dachau district and the Hallertau region, there is almost one every weekend in July and August — Hilgertshausen is one of the established venues.
