Volksfest Tradition in the Hallertau

The Volksfest Reichertshausen is a fixed date in the festival calendar of the district of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm. For decades, the municipality, together with clubs and the local festival host, has organized the multi-day Volksfest. The program follows the classic Bavarian dramaturgy: parade of clubs, beer tapping, festival tent with live music, showman attractions, and a closing fireworks display.

Festival Grounds on Pfaffenhofener Straße

The festival grounds are located at Pfaffenhofener Straße 2 in Reichertshausen, easily accessible from the A9 motorway and connected to the S-Bahn line towards Munich. The festival tent is at the center, surrounded by showman attractions, carousels, shooting galleries, and catering stands – a typical Middle Bavarian Volksfest of manageable size, attracting families primarily from the Hallertau and the northern Munich district.

Reichertshausen is located in the Hallertau, the largest contiguous hop-growing region in the world. Beer and brewing characterize the region and thus also the Volksfest. The district of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm has a particularly dense festival culture: between Wolnzach, Pfaffenhofen, Schweitenkirchen, and Reichertshausen, there are festivals in almost every market town during the summer – the Reichertshausen festival is one of the largest and, with its 46th edition in 2026, is part of the established dates.
