The Heart of the Bavarian Traditional Costume Movement

The Bavarian Traditional Costume Association is the umbrella organization for Bavarian traditional costume and customs associations. Its State Assembly (annual meeting) is the most important internal meeting of the association – and is hosted by a different Trachtengau (regional association) each year. In 2026, this honor falls to the Trachtengau Niederbayern, which is organizing the event in Deggendorf in the district of the same name (State of Bavaria).

Trachtengau Niederbayern as Host

The Trachtengau Niederbayern was founded in 1923 and is traditionally based in Deggendorf. It comprises 47 traditional costume associations in six Lower Bavarian districts. Hosting the State Assembly is a special recognition for the Gau and underscores its importance within the Bavarian traditional costume movement.

More Than Just an Assembly

Beyond the formal assembly part, the State Assembly is accompanied by a festive supporting program: a traditional costume parade through Deggendorf, folk music, traditional costume presentations, and cultural events. This makes the meeting a visible commitment to traditional costume, customs, and homeland for the public as well.
