Vespa parade, beer garden and live music in Deggendorf's city center
With Summer Vibes, Stadtmarketing Deggendorf has established a summer event that combines two worlds: the nostalgic lifestyle of Italian Vespa culture and Lower Bavarian conviviality. The venue is Luitpoldplatz (Oberer Stadtplatz) and the adjacent gastronomic areas of the Deggendorf pedestrian zone. Vespa enthusiasts from Lower Bavaria, Upper Bavaria, the Bavarian Forest, and Austria present their scooters — from 1960s classics to modern models. The Vespa parade across the town square is a visual and auditory highlight.
Stadtmarketing is cooperating with the local Deggendorfer Brauhaus, which is setting up an open-air beer garden on Luitpoldplatz. Fresh Deggendorf Helles and non-alcoholic alternatives will be served, complemented by snack offerings from the surrounding inns. "Diverse culinary summer highlights, drinks, and feel-good music“ — this is how the organizers characterize the atmosphere.
A music stage on Luitpoldplatz provides a relaxed summer atmosphere with changing bands and DJs — Pop, Soul, Italian classics, and lounge beats correspond with the Mediterranean Vespa vibe. Several small lounge huts („Genuss-Inseln“ / enjoyment islands) in the pedestrian zone additionally offer cocktails, Spritz, and aperitifs. Participating city center restaurants will open their outdoor areas with special menus; reservations for dinner are recommended.
Deggendorf is the Große Kreisstadt (major district town) on the southern edge of the Bavarian Forest, located on the right bank of the Danube. With around 33,000 inhabitants, it is the economic and cultural center of eastern Lower Bavaria, home to the Deggendorf Institute of Technology, and a transport hub between Munich, Passau, and Regensburg. Luitpoldplatz, with its historic town buildings, is the vibrant heart of the city center — and the perfect venue for an urban summer festival.
Anyone strolling through Deggendorf's pedestrian zone on the festival evening, admiring gleaming Vespa scooters from six decades, sipping a Spritz at one of the enjoyment islands, and listening to a cover band will experience the South German echo of the Italian Dolce Vita. It is precisely this atmosphere that makes Summer Vibes Deggendorf well-known among Vespa fans in Southern Germany — and attracts Vespa clubs from all over the Bavarian-Austrian Danube region.
The 2026 edition runs on Saturday, July 11, from 4 PM to 11 PM. Vespa riders from Bavaria and Austria meet at Luitpoldplatz, present their scooters, and ride the Vespa parade across the town square. The Deggendorfer Brauhaus taps Helles and non-alcoholic alternatives, and several small lounge huts in the pedestrian zone offer Aperol Spritz, cocktails, and culinary summer highlights. On the stage at the town square, changing live bands and DJs play Italian Pop, Soul, and Lounge beats. The city center restaurants open their outdoor areas with special summer menus.
By car: A3 or A92 exit Deggendorf, then into the city center. Underground parking garages Donaustraße or Stadtplatz. Public transport: Deggendorf Stadt train station, from there a 10-minute walk to Luitpoldplatz.
Free admission. Only food, drinks, and Vespa stand contributions are charged.
Vespa riders register their scooters at the registration desk before the festival begins. Parking and parade details will be communicated on-site.
