54th edition of the legendary endurance race on the Nordschleife
The 24-hour race at the Nürburgring has been a classic of international endurance racing since 1970. In 2026, it enters its 54th edition. Unlike pure professional races, the regulations allow an extraordinary mix of factory, professional, and amateur teams – a concept that shapes the special atmosphere of the race.
Over the years, the classic race has evolved into a five-day festival format. Training sessions begin on Wednesday, and the Adenau Racing Day opens the festival week with a parade, while camping areas, fan shops, and stages open simultaneously. Anyone who has participated knows: the 24h race is not just sport, but also a festival with its own rituals of track marshal walks, midnight stints, and early morning gatherings on Sunday.
The Nordschleife of the Nürburgring, with over 20 kilometers of track length, is one of the longest and most demanding race tracks in the world. It winds through the Eifel landscape, making the race a unique experience for both drivers and spectators. Several hundred thousand spectators spread out along the track, with some fan areas like Brünnchen or Pflanzgarten having cult status.
The 2026 race ended with a highly anticipated victory for Mercedes-AMG after ten years. Thus, the race continues its tradition as a stage for the major brands of German motorsport. However, for the festival edition, the result plays only a minor role; the atmosphere on the track, in the camps, and in the tents around the Ring is much more important.
The official festival week begins before the weekend and includes numerous accompanying events around the Ring. Detailed times and the track map will be published on 24h-rennen.de.
The complete schedule and team list will be officially published at 24h-rennen.de.
