An American Christmas Amidst Film Sets

Movie Park Germany in Bottrop-Kirchhellen is Germany's major film-themed amusement park — divided into themed areas like 'Hollywood Boulevard', 'Federation Plaza', 'Streets of New York', or 'Nickland'. Every year, from late November, the park transforms into an American Christmas wonderland: 'Hollywood Christmas' is the Ruhr area's largest indoor winter event and brings the atmosphere of American Christmas movies to North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2026/2027, it's the 4th edition — from November 27, 2026, to January 5, 2027, over more than 20 event days.

Four Exclusive Shows

1. Scrooge 4D: A Christmas Carol

A 4D film adaptation of the famous Charles Dickens story — with weather effects (snowflakes in the auditorium!), moving seats, and visual special effects. A modern homage to a Christmas classic.

2. The Great Christmas Magic Show – by Christian Farla

An illusion show with Dutch magician Christian Farla — grand illusions with a Christmas theme, staged with stage pyrotechnics and music. A spectacle for all ages.

3. Tune in for Christmas

A live singing show — Christmas songs in various styles, from classic standards to modern pop interpretations. On its own stage in the Hollywood Boulevard themed area.

4. Christmas Sparkle – A Light for Everyone

A singing and acrobatics show — the combination of live vocals and acrobatic elements like aerial acrobatics and dance choreography. An in-house live production by Movie Park.

Santa Experience and Gospel Choir

Beyond the permanently installed shows:

• Movie Park's Santa Experience — interactive visit with Santa Claus, including photo sessions and personal chats (especially attractive for families with young children)
• Leslie B. Harmonies Gospel Choir — live in the park on selected event days, with a gospel repertoire related to Christmas

Over 800,000 Lights

The visual signature: More than 800,000 LED lights are installed throughout the park — light tunnels, illuminated sculptures, lit-up buildings. Combined with the park's special Christmas soundtrack and artificial snowfalls, this creates a continuous 'film set' atmosphere — just like in an American Christmas movie.

Rides and Themed Areas

While Hollywood Christmas is a separate event, Movie Park's classic rides are also open — roller coasters like 'MP-Xpress', 'Bandit', children's sections like 'Nickland', and the special themed areas. In freezing temperatures, indoor attractions are particularly popular.

Tickets and Prices

Movie Park's Hollywood Christmas winter tickets for 2025/2026 were already offered from €23.65 in advance (instead of €58.90 at the box office) — a significant saving when booking early. Prices for 2026/2027 are expected to be comparable.

Getting There and Practical Information

Movie Park Germany is located in Bottrop-Kirchhellen, in the north of the Ruhr area. By car via the A31 (Kirchhellen exit) or A2 (Bottrop exit). By public transport: Bottrop-Hbf station, then special bus lines to the park. Large paid parking lot on site.
