Two weekends of music, culinary delights, and dance in the Stadtgarten Spaichingen
This is how Mayor Markus Hugger describes the Primtalsommer – and he perfectly captures the essence of the festival. The Primtalsommer is not curated for tourists, nor organized by professional event managers. It arises from the voluntary commitment of Spaichingen's club community. The Stadtkapelle Spaichingen, the music association, the gymnastics club, the school, local bands, and dance groups – all perform over the two festival weekends and shape the program.
The Stadtgarten Spaichingen, located behind the Gewerbemuseum, offers the ideal setting: mature trees, shaded areas, play facilities, and a pleasant atmosphere for young and old. During summer temperatures, it's cooler here than in the city center, the acoustics are suitable for medium-sized concert formats, and the audience can relax on benches or blankets on the grass.
The festival is spread over two weekends: July 10th–12th and July 17th–19th, 2026. This allows you to experience everything without feeling rushed and enables Spaichingen's clubs to spread their contributions across two weekends. Between the weekends – from July 13th to 16th – optional Wednesday dates are possible, depending on club registrations. This creates a diverse program that spans ten days.
The program covers all genres: brass music from the Stadtkapelle, pop and rock bands from the Heuberg, folk dances, hip-hop choreographies by young dancers, cover bands, solo sets. In addition, there are sports demonstrations – acrobatics, self-defense, dance performances. Culinary offerings include international contributions: Turkish specialties from the Turkish community, Italian pizzas, Croatian cevapi, as well as, of course, Swabian classics.
A dedicated cocktail bar characterizes the festival. You sit under the old trees, listen to music, and enjoy cocktails, wine, beer, or non-alcoholic drinks. The atmosphere is relaxed, neither Schlager-like nor high-brow – simply a cozy Swabian summer evening.
Spaichingen, with a population of just over 13,000, is a town in the Tuttlingen district, situated on the slope of the Heuberg at an altitude of 670 meters. The town is a starting point for hikes to the Dreifaltigkeitsberg, the Swabian Jura, and the Upper Danube Valley. High summer at 670 meters is pleasant – making the Primtalsommer a refreshing summer escape between the Jura and Lake Constance.
The 2026 Primtalsommer spreads its program across two extended weekends with potential intermediate dates. This allows clubs to plan their contributions carefully and avoids overwhelming the audience. Both weekends run from Friday to Sunday, with the Wednesday dates in between offering open-format concerts or club evenings, depending on registrations.
The program emphasizes an international character — featuring contributions from Spaichingen's Turkish, Croatian, Italian, and other communities. This makes the Primtalsommer a visible celebration of the town's cultural diversity.
Free admission to all program points on both weekends. Food (international and Swabian specialties) and drinks (cocktails, beer, wines, non-alcoholic) at usual festival prices.
