Asparagus Season on the Farm

The Asparagus Festival in Groß Bölkow is a harvest festival at Hofladen Brandt, celebrating the peak of the North German asparagus season. Between April and June, the Brandts harvest white and green asparagus in their fields — the Asparagus Festival in May makes the seasonal vegetable the centerpiece of a farm day for the whole family. Fresh asparagus soup is served, along with bratwurst, coffee, and cake.

Farm Tour and Direct Marketing

A highlight of the festival are the farm tours: from the chicken mobile to the asparagus field, the Brandt family shows how the farm is managed. The farm shop stands for direct marketing of regional products — in addition to asparagus, they offer free-range eggs, potatoes, seasonal fruits and vegetables, as well as honey and homemade jams. Visitors to the farm experience agriculture firsthand and buy where it's harvested.

A Farm with a Long History

Hofladen Brandt is located in Groß Bölkow, a district of the municipality of Satow in the Rostock district. The agricultural business has been managed by the Brandt family since 1702 — today in the ninth generation. This continuity makes the farm a living testament to rural tradition in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The Asparagus Festival combines this history with an open, family-friendly celebration.
