148th Schützenfest and City Marksmen's Day in Ringelheim with bird shooting, festival tent, and civic competitions
The Ringelheim Marksmen's Guild was founded in 1872, making it one of the most traditional marksmen's clubs in southeastern Lower Saxony. With the 148th Schützenfest, the club continues an almost uninterrupted tradition, which was only significantly disrupted by the two World Wars. Ringelheim, now a district of Salzgitter, has established itself as a stronghold of marksmen over the centuries – not least thanks to its idyllic location on the Innerste river and its well-developed marksmen's infrastructure.
A special feature of this year's event is that the Ringelheim Marksmen's Guild is hosting the City Marksmen's Day. The City Marksmen's Day brings together all the marksmen's clubs from the large city of Salzgitter and its districts for a central competition. Marksmen from Bad, Lebenstedt, Gebhardshagen, Thiede, Lesse, Flachstöckheim, and many other districts compete against each other in various disciplines. The hosting rotates annually among the clubs.
The focus of the sporting competitions in 2026 will be on several open categories:
The festival tent on the grounds by the Innerste river is the center of the social program. Dance evenings, live music, the King's Dinner, a joint breakfast, and a parade through the streets of Ringelheim complete the program. The traditional Sunday morning pint (Frühschoppen) and Family Day with carousels and sweets are also part of it.
The 2026 Schützenfest is a special responsibility for the Ringelheim Marksmen's Guild: by hosting the City Marksmen's Day, Ringelheim becomes the center of Salzgitter's marksmen's community for four days. Clubs from Bad, Lebenstedt, Gebhardshagen, Thiede, and many other districts will travel here, compete in the various categories, and celebrate the community of marksmen together. The festival tent can accommodate several hundred guests and provides the evening atmosphere with live music and dance evenings.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
