The Anniversary Edition of the Musikfest
The Musikfest Berlin has been running since August 28. So the Berliner Festspiele describe it. It remains the capital's great international classical festival. Organised by the Berliner Festspiele together with the Berliner Philharmoniker foundation, it traditionally opens Berlin's concert season, which places the weekend of September 19-20, 2026 right in the middle of the programme. It closes only on September 23. Around 40 concerts are on the bill.
2026 marks an anniversary edition. Seventy-five years of the Berliner Festspiele frame the season. The Philharmonie on Herbert-von-Karajan-Strasse anchors a total of 36 events. Around 40 concerts and 160 works spread across the whole festival. Four weeks make up the programme, from late August to late September.
On September 19, 2026, and across the 19–20 September 2026 weekend, the schedule keeps its usual rhythm. Only a few days separate the weekend from the close of the anniversary edition on September 23.
The Rest of the Weekend Across the Districts
Rosenthal sits in the Pankow district. There, the Bürgerverein Dorf Rosenthal association and Laubinger Event GmbH set up the 53rd edition of the Rosenthaler Herbst and Erntedankfest, on Hauptstrasse 155-171. Two stages, fairground rides and a craft market make up the fair. The Späth'sche Baumschulen nursery was founded in 1720. It still operates today as Berlin's oldest producing company. It now opens its grounds on Späthstrasse 80/81 for the Späth'sches Traditionsfest, with a green market and a dahlia show. The Domäne Dahlem is Berlin's last working farm. On Königin-Luise-Strasse, between the Botanical Garden, the Freie Universität and the Grunewald forest, visitors can dig their own organic potatoes and roast them straight on the campfire at the Kartoffelfest. The Adlershofer Herbstfest sits in the Treptow-Köpenick district. It ranks among the city's most important neighbourhood festivals. Its 26th edition brings a live stage, a children's fair, a flea market and street food at the Alte Schule cultural centre, under the patronage of district mayor Oliver Igel.
Tents also define Spandau. At the citadel, on Am Juliusturm 64 in the Haselhorst district, the Spandauer Oktoberfest opens its beer tent with live bands and folk costume orchestras. Bavarian food ranges from Schweinshaxe to pretzels. The Muslim Cultural Week Berlin opens in parallel. It fills mosques and cultural centres across the city for about two and a half weeks. The programme ranges from exhibitions to concerts and talks.
Neukölln carries two programmes at once. The Ganeshotsav Berlin takes place on Hasenheide. It ranks as Germany's most important Ganesh Chaturthi festival, with twelve days of pujas and ceremonies leading up to the Grand Visarjan Miravnuk procession to the water. The KUYUM dance platform marks its sixth edition. On Uferstrasse 23, it shows nine dance productions between the Haus der Kulturen der Welt and the Uferstudios, alongside workshops, panels and concerts. Reinbeckstrasse hosts the Berlin Industrial Culture Festival. It opens the doors of more than 30 industrial sites, from factory halls to disused railway stations, with tours, photo walks, concerts, industrial rallies and silent discos.
