Bavarian festival tent at the Citadel of Spandau with Bavarian cuisine and live music
For several years now, the Spandauer Oktoberfest has set up its festival tent on the grounds of the Citadel of Spandau – a 16th-century Renaissance fortress, whose Julius Tower is among Berlin's oldest surviving structures. The venue in the Haselhorst district (Spandau borough), at the confluence of the Havel and Spree rivers, also features a spacious festival meadow.
Inside the tent, Bavaria is the theme: waitstaff in traditional Tracht, long beer benches, and the classics – Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle), halbes Hendl (half roast chicken), Brezn (pretzels), Obatzda (cheese spread), Schnitzel, and salads. Drinks are served in Maßkrugs; classic festival beer alongside Apfelschorle, wheat beer, and non-alcoholic options.
On stage, live bands perform, ranging from Munich's party bands to Berlin's Schlager stars. The Spandauer Oktoberfest combines traditional attire and folk music with Berlin's party atmosphere. Admission is for ages 18 and up; the box office opens at 4 PM, and the party reaches its peak between 8 PM and 11 PM.
The event is organized by Wollenschlaeger Event GmbH, a Berlin-based family business in its fifth generation, which has been organizing Berlin's city and folk festivals for decades. With the Oktoberfest at the Citadel, Wollenschlaeger has established a firm fixture on Berlin's autumn calendar – six weeks of Wiesn atmosphere in the west of Berlin.
The 2026 season of the Spandauer Oktoberfest – Festival Tent of the Capital runs from September 18 to October 24, 2026. The venue is the festival meadow at the Citadel of Spandau (Am Juliusturm 64, 13599 Berlin-Haselhorst). The festival tent is open exclusively on Fridays and Saturdays.
