High-class classical concerts in the Festspielscheune at Schloss Ulrichshusen
The Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are among Germany's largest classical music festivals. Throughout the summer, they present around 120 concerts at numerous venues across the state. Schloss and Gut Ulrichshusen, located in the Mecklenburg Lake District on the shores of Ulrichshuser See, has been one of the central festival venues since 1994 and is closely linked to the festival's history.
The heart of the manor is the historic barn, converted into the Festspielscheune, boasting excellent acoustics. It is complemented by the Feldsteinscheune, which provides a fitting setting for chamber music programs. The combination of old architecture, expansive landscape, and high-class music makes Ulrichshusen particularly appealing.
The 2026 festival summer once again brings a packed concert schedule to Ulrichshusen:
Ulrichshusen is more than just a concert venue: the manor, with its castle, restaurant, and café, invites visitors to spend a whole day in Mecklenburg Switzerland. Attending a concert here means combining top-tier music with an excursion into one of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's most beautiful landscapes.
With the "Mythos Orchester" weekend, classical symphony programs, and chamber music encounters, Ulrichshusen exemplifies the concept of Festspiele MV: making music of the highest caliber accessible in unusual locations.
The 2026 season in Ulrichshusen combines grand orchestral sound with chamber music. The opening on July 19 features cellist Anastasia Kobekina with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. On July 31, "Das Sommerfest" follows, with clarinettist Sebastian Manz and Quasi Cool Seven, bridging jazz and classical music.
The highlight is the weekend of August 15 and 16: under the title "360° Mythos Orchester", the NDR Radiophilharmonie, conducted by Cornelius Meister, will perform concerts, orchestral talks, and workshops. The season concludes on August 23 with a chamber concert featuring works by Clarke, Kurtág, and Brahms, followed on August 30 by "Quasthoff & Friends" with Thomas Quasthoff.
The themed weekend "360° Mythos Orchester" with the NDR Radiophilharmonie under Cornelius Meister offers rare insights into the workings of a major symphony orchestra.
