Berlin's most extraordinary open-air New Year's Eve party in a Renaissance fortress
The Spandau Citadel is one of the best-preserved Renaissance fortresses in Europe, built between 1559 and 1594. On New Year's Eve, the entire fortress island becomes an open-air stage: the bastions turn into grandstands, the inner courtyard into a dance floor, and the Julius Tower into a backdrop for the fireworks. This blend of history and a major event is unique in Berlin — and the reason why the Silvesterzauber sells out in minutes every year.
The program is deliberately divided into two parts, with two clearly separated time slots and target audiences:
Those seeking to escape the cold can switch between floors; however, access to the Gothic Hall and Zita Club requires an additional indoor ticket.
Capacity is limited to a maximum of 3,999 people — deliberately smaller than most other large New Year's Eve events in Berlin. This makes the evening manageable, safe, and relaxed. Awareness teams, paramedics, and security are present throughout, and personal fireworks on the premises are prohibited.
The Citadel is located in the Haselhorst district (Spandau borough), on the western outskirts of Berlin. You can reach it from Alexanderplatz in 25 minutes via the U7 subway line — yet it feels like a different city: brick architecture, wide courtyards, its own old town. On New Year's Eve, the district is more crowded than on any other day of the year, and restaurants in the old town of Spandau work with special shifts.
The 2026 edition was officially confirmed by the organizer Partner für Spandau GmbH in the event calendar for 2026/2027 — it continues the proven dual structure (family New Year's Eve in the afternoon, big party in the evening). Advance ticket sales will typically start in October 2026 via silvesterzauber-berlin.de and the Partner für Spandau platform.
Venue: Spandau Citadel, Am Juliusturm 64, 13599 Berlin (Haselhorst district). The fortress complex will be used in several zones: main stage in the inner courtyard, three indoor floors (Foyer B / Gothic Hall / Zita Club), food court along the bastions, two fireworks shows at midnight.
Exact prices for 2026/2027 not yet published. Historical values: Family ticket for the afternoon is significantly cheaper than the evening ticket. Indoor floors (Gothic Hall, Zita Club) each require an additional indoor ticket. Advance sales exclusively online — no ticket sales at the venue.
Take the U7 subway line to Zitadelle (3-minute walk to the entrance) — this is the only practical way to arrive, as parking is virtually non-existent on New Year's Eve and the streets around the Citadel are closed. The last subway runs continuously.
Advance sales exclusively online via silvesterzauber-berlin.de and the Partner für Spandau platform. The day ticket for family New Year's Eve is significantly cheaper than the evening ticket; separate tickets are required for the indoor floors (Gothic Hall, Zita Club). No box office — all tickets must be booked in advance.
Cloakroom available, food and drink stands throughout the grounds. Cash and card are accepted. Personal fireworks and firecrackers are strictly forbidden and will be checked at the entrance.
Established for over 25 years. Advance sales usually start in October/November — early booking is recommended for popular indoor floors.
