Grand parade and folk festival at the heristo-Sportpark — August 15th to 17th, 2026
The Heimatfest Bad Rothenfelde is a classic local and folk festival that focuses on the community spirit of the town and its clubs. It takes place annually on the third weekend in August — from August 15th to 17th in 2026 — and attracts families, clubs, and heritage enthusiasts alike.
The highlight of the festival is the grand parade, which winds its way through the streets of Bad Rothenfelde with floats, music bands, local clubs, shooting clubs, and traditional costume wearers. The townspeople line the streets, clapping and waving — a vibrant picture of village belonging in the spa resort.
The venue for the festivities is the heristo-Sportpark, a spacious area with tents, a festival host's stage, and play areas. Bands play here for the whole family — from Schlager and pop to country and folk music. During the day, children's programs, amusement rides, and food stalls offer a rich variety.
The organizers deliberately focus on a cross-generational music and dance program: a morning pint with brass music on Sunday, dance evenings for teenagers and young adults on Saturday, and family activities for the little ones on the weekend. This makes the Heimatfest an inclusive family event.
With its medieval market, Pentecost fair, salt market, rose festival, grape phylloxera festival, and Heimatfest, Bad Rothenfelde boasts one of the most packed festival calendars in the Osnabrück region. The Heimatfest is deliberately timed at the transition to late summer — a final grand summer moment before autumn begins.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the summer. The structure will follow the proven key points from previous years:
