Weinfest Dettenhausen

A Carnival Venue Becomes a Wine Festival

Dettenhausen is a small municipality with just under 5,500 inhabitants in the Tübingen district, located on the edge of the Schönbuch forest between Tübingen and Böblingen. The Freie Narren Dettenhausen e.V. is the most important carnival association in the municipality — the Swabian-Alemannic Fastnacht (carnival) is traditionally celebrated intensely here. During the summer months, the association uses its community hall, the Narrhalla at Brunnenstraße 26, for other events — including the annual wine festival since 2019.

Württemberg Wines in the Garden of the Narrhalla

The focus is on the wines: Trollinger, Lemberger, Schwarzriesling as regional stars, plus Riesling, Kerner, and Müller-Thurgau from the Württemberg growing regions. It's served in the garden and courtyard of the Narrhalla, with families, association members, and visitors from the Schönbuch municipalities sitting at the tables. A more modern alternative to classic Württemberg wine village formats — more manageable, intimate, and without major stage productions.

Summer Program of the Freie Narren

The tradition since 2019 (with the exception of the pandemic years) has made the wine festival a fixed date in the Dettenhausen event calendar. The association itself is the organizer, and the program is published on the association's website, freienarrendettenhausen.de, under "Termine" (Dates). In addition to wine service, they offer bratwurst, Maultaschen (dumplings), and salads from the association's kitchen — Swabian-Franconian classics at association prices.
