A New Series at the Museum Village

With the Tierbörse, the Klockenhagen Open-Air Museum is expanding its program in 2026 with a new event series. The focus is on direct contact between breeders, associations, and an audience interested in rural themes. The concept aligns with the museum's mission: to make the rural culture and animal husbandry of the region between Bodden and the Baltic Sea tangible.

What to Expect?

Although the details of the first edition are not yet fully known at the time of publication, the format typically includes the following elements: presentation of old domestic animal breeds, advice from breeders and associations, information on keeping and care, plus hands-on activities for children and families. The historic backdrop of Klockenhagen – farmhouses, workshops, and barns with thatched roofs – provides the fitting setting.

Location and Museum

Klockenhagen is located in the Vorpommern-Rügen district and belongs to the amber town of Ribnitz-Damgarten. The open-air museum is open from April to November and sees itself as a showcase of rural life in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. With the Tierbörse, the institution is further positioning itself as a meeting place between classic museum education and active agriculture.
