A Tradition Since 1957

The Kulturgemeinschaft 1955 Dudweiler-Pfaffenkopf e.V. is one of the most traditional clubs in the Saarbrücken district of Dudweiler — founded in 1955, with the first Waldfest in 1957. The 68th edition took place in 2025, underscoring the unbroken tradition: no war, no pandemic, and no competing festival could permanently postpone this summer date.

Festival Grounds in the Forest

The venue is the Festplatz Pfaffenkopf — a clearing in the forest above the clubhouse at Rentrischer Straße 42. The location is extraordinary: no town square, no asphalt, but trees, natural ground, and the typical smell of a Saarbrücken summer forest. This is precisely what makes the festival charming. Club Structure — Many Groups Under One Roof

The KG Pfaffenkopf is more than just a carnival club — even if the name suggests otherwise. The club umbrella includes:

• Elferrat and Carnival Society
• Gardening Group
• Dance Group
• Humor Group (Büttenredner)
• Music Department

All these groups perform at the Waldfest — a colorful cross-section of Dudweiler club life.

Four Days of Full Program

The Waldfest traditionally runs from Friday to Monday:

• Friday evening — Opening at 6 p.m. with friendly Dudweiler clubs, keg tapping (in the past, among others, by members of the Saarland state parliament), band performances in the evening
• Saturday — Dance performances, musical entertainment, family program with activities for children
• Sunday — Ecumenical service (often in cooperation with the parish of St. Marien Dudweiler), morning pint with brass music, dancing in the evening
• Monday — Final festival day with the main tombola drawing

What makes the KG-Pfaffenkopf tombola special: Numerous attractive prizes are raffled off over the festival days — from restaurant vouchers to larger physical prizes. The tickets sell out quickly, and the proceeds go towards the club's activities.

Saarbrücken District with Character

Dudweiler was an independent town until 1974 and is now the largest district of Saarbrücken, located in the north of the state capital. The Pfaffenkopf is also part of its forest area — the perfect backdrop for a festival that impressively demonstrates the Saarland connection between sociability and nature.
