44th edition around the historic watermill by the mill pond — over 100 exhibitors, free admission
The Trittau Arts and Crafts Market for Thanksgiving is an institution on the Northern German arts and crafts calendar. Since the early 1980s — the 44th edition is in 2026 — the market gathers around 100 craftspeople and designers every year on the grounds of the historic watermill by the mill pond. The organizer is the event agency Elke Baum in cooperation with the Trittau Watermill Cultural Centre. The market is one of the longest-standing and highest-quality arts and crafts markets in the region — known for its careful selection of exhibitors.
The Trittau Watermill, dating back to the 16th century, is one of the most beautiful preserved monuments in the Stormarn district. Located directly by the mill pond, its brick walls, imposing mill wheel, and surrounding park provide the ideal backdrop for an autumn market celebrating Thanksgiving. The exhibitors' stalls are spread around the mill building, in the interior rooms, and in 2026 additionally on the Woolworth event area in the neighborhood — an expansion that accommodates the growing interest in the market.
The market's profile is consistently quality-oriented. Represented are, among others:
In addition, there is a curated start-up area where younger designers and craftspeople can exhibit for the first time.
The gastronomic offer embraces the Thanksgiving theme: homemade sausage and cheese specialties, regional honey, Italian and French pastries, Moroccan filled flatbreads, barbecue stands with regional specialties. In the Trittau Watermill itself, there is coffee and homemade cake — a long-standing classic of the market.
Trittau is located in the Stormarn district, about 30 kilometers east of Hamburg, and with around 8,700 inhabitants, it is the seat of the Trittau office of the same name. The watermill and the mill pond make the town a popular destination — a weekend getaway for Hamburg arts and crafts fans, easily accessible by bus and car.
The 44th edition of the Trittau Arts and Crafts Market for Thanksgiving will take place on October 3rd and 4th, 2026, from 10 AM to 6 PM each day. The organizer is the event agency Elke Baum in cooperation with the Trittau Watermill Cultural Centre. In 2026, the market will be expanded beyond the classic area at the watermill to include the nearby Woolworth event area — serving as a platform for start-up exhibitors.
