The Trittau Arts and Crafts Market for Thanksgiving is an institution on the Northern German arts and crafts calendar. Since the early 1980s — the 44th edition is in 2026 — the market gathers around 100 craftspeople and designers every year on the grounds of the historic watermill by the mill pond. The organizer is the event agency Elke Baum in cooperation with the Trittau Watermill Cultural Centre. The market is one of the longest-standing and highest-quality arts and crafts markets in the region — known for its careful selection of exhibitors.

The Watermill and its Atmosphere

The Trittau Watermill, dating back to the 16th century, is one of the most beautiful preserved monuments in the Stormarn district. Located directly by the mill pond, its brick walls, imposing mill wheel, and surrounding park provide the ideal backdrop for an autumn market celebrating Thanksgiving. The exhibitors' stalls are spread around the mill building, in the interior rooms, and in 2026 additionally on the Woolworth event area in the neighborhood — an expansion that accommodates the growing interest in the market.

Trittau is located in the Stormarn district, about 30 kilometers east of Hamburg, and with around 8,700 inhabitants, it is the seat of the Trittau office of the same name.
