Three premieres by K3 residency choreographers at Kampnagel
TanzHochDrei is the annual festival of K3 — Center for Choreography | Tanzplan Hamburg, one of the most important residency venues for contemporary dance in Germany. Three choreographers working as K3 residents present their new works in premiere during the festival. The venue is the halls of Kampnagel at Jarrestraße 20 in Winterhude.
The K3 halls become the festival center during the festival: In addition to the three main performances, there are video works by the resident artists, workshops for various age groups, choreographed childcare, and movement classes. The festival is explicitly family-friendly and aims to make contemporary dance accessible to younger audiences and those unfamiliar with dance.
K3 explicitly seeks out diverse resident choreographers — geographically, aesthetically, and biographically. In 2026, the themes range from an examination of Spain's fascist past to the connection between hip-hop, contemporary dance, and Caribbean rituals, to a choreography based on satellites, astrology, and AI.
K3 is embedded in the Tanzplan Hamburg network and works closely with Kampnagel. The venue is in the Hamburg-Nord district, in the Winterhude neighborhood. Funded by the Hamburg Authority for Culture and Media.
From March 25 to 29, 2026, K3 — Center for Choreography | Tanzplan Hamburg will present the new works of its three resident choreographers at Kampnagel. All performances are premieres.
Inka Romani (Spain) — "El demonio del cuerpo" ("The Demon of the Body"): The choreographer explores the fascist past of her home country, examining how sport, gymnastics, and folk dances were co-opted by the regime.
Rhys Dennis (London) — "Feast": The London-based choreographer combines hip-hop, contemporary dance, and African rhythms with the rituals of Caribbean families and symbols of nightlife.
Gry Tingskog — "Technomancy": The choreographer looks to the sky, developing a choreography based on satellites, astrology, and artificial intelligence to predict the future.
The K3 hall becomes the festival center with video works, workshops, and choreographed childcare. Movement classes for all ages complement the program.
